Eliminating Noise Symptoms - Reworking Guide Rail For Hinge For Convertible-Top Compartment Lid

Symptoms

Clicking noises when opening and closing the convertible top.

Causes and remedial action

Clicking noises can occur under load when opening and closing the convertible top as a result of play between the friction plate and guide rail.

In the event of a complaint, a base strap must be affixed to the guide rail at the left and right to remedy the situation on vehicles manufactured before the date of introduction March 2005.

Preliminary work

Move convertible top to service position. Refer to Convertible-top service position.

Reworking guide rail for hinge for convertible-top compartment lid

1. Cut a strip of base strap measuring 140 mm x 15 mm.
2. Affix base strap -1- between the guide rail -2- and friction plate -3-.







Subsequent work

End service position. Refer to Convertible-top service position.
