- Only the two convertible top gears, levers, studs, the shouldered bolt and the rear control unit can be retrofitted in vehicles manufactured before 02.02.2006.
Preliminary work as of production date 02.02.2006
1. Convertible top in service position.
1.1. Convertible top in service position: Open convertible top approx. 40 cm away from the windscreen frame. Pull velcro on fixing strap off tension bow and secure on centring journal at the front. Refer to Convertible top in service position.
2. Carefully press ball socket -1- out of the convertible top support at the left and right with a screwdriver while keeping it tight to the ball head -3-.
3. Press left and right push rod springs -8- out of the ball head on the lever.
4. Unscrew the fastening screw -1- on the lever -2- and remove the cover -3- and lever -2- from the convertible top gear -4-.
5. Unclip clip -6- on the flexible shaft -5- and remove the shaft from the drive motor -7-.
Removing convertible top gear
1. Unscrew fastening nuts -9-. Remove convertible top gear -10- from the studs -11-.
Removing studs
1. Unscrew studs -12- from the body.
Installing studs
1. Screw studs into the body and tighten them.
Installing convertible top gear
1. Position convertible top gear -10- on the studs -11- and secure with the fastening nuts -9-. Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)
Subsequent work
1. Position cover -3- and lever -2- on the convertible top gear -4-. Screw in fastening screw -1- and tighten it. Tightening torque: 80 Nm (59 ftlb.)
2. Insert the shaft -5- into the drive motor -7- and use a clip -6- to secure the shaft -5-.
3. Refer to Adjusting Cabriolet convertible top.
4. Engage push rod.
4.1. Press ball socket -6- of push rod onto ball head of main folding top bow.
5. Press left and right push rod springs -6- into the ball head on the lever.
6. End service position.
7. Function check:
Open and close the convertible top using the rocker switch if necessary. Refer to Adjusting Cabriolet convertible top.
