Removing and installing belt pulleyTools
Preliminary work for removing pulley
1. Move driver and passenger seats to the front-most position and fold over the backrests.
2. Disconnect ground strap for battery.
3. Place protective covers in the car to prevent damage and soiling.
4. Remove rear wall lining of rear wall cover.
5. Remove drive belt. Mark the running direction of the belt with a colored pen. Slacken the belt; to do so, turn tensioning roller (a/f 24) in a clockwise direction and at the same time, remove the belt from the tensioning roller or the deflection roller.

Note: To release and tighten the belt pulley, a second person must counter with the relevant retaining tool.

1. Position retaining device 9593 and a large torque wrench on the belt pulley and loosen the fastening screw. A second person must counter with the retaining tool.
2. Unscrew fastening screw and remove belt pulley.
Installing belt pulley - engine installed
Note: Degrease the belt pulley before installation on the flange side of the crankshaft using solvent naphtha or acetone.
1. Position belt pulley on crankshaft flange (dowel pin).
Note: Replace belt pulley fastening screw.
Note: To release and tighten the belt pulley, a second person must counter with the relevant retaining tool.
2. Insert fastening screw and tighten in two stages. Counter at the same time with special tool retaining device 9593. Tightening torque: 37 ft lb.; Torque angle: 90°;
Subsequent work for installing belt pulley
1. Install pulley.
2. Fit drive belt.
3. Connect the ground strap for the battery.
4. Start the engine and allow it to warm up (operating temperature) and perform a visual inspection to check for leaks.
5. Fit rear wall cover and rear wall lining, tighten screws and collar nuts. Tightening torque: 7.5 ft lb.
