Auxiliary Power Outlet: Description and Operation

.

12 V Sockets

In addition to the conventional cigarette lighter, a 12 V receptacle is located in the large storage compartment in the center console and an additional 12 V receptacle is installed on the side of the center console in the front passenger footwell to enable the connection of additional electrical devices.

NOTE:
- Important note on the use of additional electrical devices (12V loads which are normally operated via the cigarette lighter): On the sports cars to date, the lighter receptacle represented the only source of electric power for additional electrical devices. These "foreign adapters" may cause permanent deformation to the bimetal spring in the lighter and may even trigger the internal fuse.
- The sockets and therefore the connected electrical accessories function even if the ignition is switched off or the ignition key is withdrawn. If the engine is not running and the accessories are switched on, the vehicle battery will be discharged. Do not operate additional accessories for more than 5 minutes when engine is off.
- Maximum power consumption for both sockets together: 70 W.

It is imperative to use these sockets instead of the cigarette lighter receptacle when using additional electrical devices.
