Removing And Installing Wiring Harness For Rear Panel Flap

Removing wire harness for tailgate, left and right

Removing wiring harness, left side of tailgate to lid hinge







1. Pull off connector on rear window wiper -Arrow A-.







2. Release connector -Arrows B- and remove from lock lower part on rear window -Arrow C-.
3. Turn plug connection through approx. 90 degrees -Arrow D- and remove from clip -Arrow E-.
4. Release connector -Arrow F- and disconnect plug connection of contact switch for rear window -Arrow G-.
5. Unscrew fastening nut -Arrow 1- and remove ground strap together with torsion protection -a-.







6. Unclip wiring harness -arrows-.







7. Remove rubber sleeve on window frame -Arrow A-.







8. Unclip wiring harness on window frame -Arrows B- and remove it -Arrows C-.
9. Remove wiring duct from hinge -Arrow A-.







10. Open wiring duct -Arrows B-, take off cover -Arrow C- and remove wiring duct from wiring harness.

NOTE:
- The styrofoam element is glued in.
- Carefully release styrofoam element.
- Replace damaged styrofoam elements.







1. Loosen, compress and remove styrofoam element -Arrow A-.







2. Pull off pink connector -Arrow B-.
3. Unscrew fastening nut -Arrow 1- and remove ground strap together with torsion protection -a- from ground pin.







4. Release support for socket -Arrows A- and remove from opening -Arrow B-.
5. Release pink socket -Arrows A- and press it out -Arrow B-.







6. Release support -Arrow C-, open it -Arrow D- and remove ground strap -Arrow E-.
7. Press out rubber sleeve -Arrow A- and remove line to pneumatic spring housing.







8. Pull wiring harness inside -Arrows B-. As space is limited, push the connectors individually past the rear lid hinge.

1. Release connector on rear lid lock -Arrows A- and remove it -Arrow B-.







2. Release connector on contact switch -Arrows C- and remove it -Arrow D-.
3. Unclip wiring harness -Arrows A-.







4. Press out clips inwards -Arrows B-.
5. Remove rubber sleeve on window frame -Arrow A-.







6. Unclip wiring harness on window frame -Arrows B- and remove it.
7. Remove wiring duct from hinge -Arrow A-.







8. Open wiring duct -Arrows B-, remove cover -Arrow C- and take out wiring harness.

NOTE:
- The styrofoam element is glued in.
- Carefully release styrofoam element.
- Replace damaged styrofoam elements.

2. Pull off blue connector -Arrow A-.







3. Release support for socket -Arrows B- and remove it -Arrow C-.
4. Release blue socket -Arrows A- and pull it out -Arrow B-.







5. Press out the front rubber sleeve -Arrow A- and remove the line -Arrow B-.

Installing wiring harness, left side of vehicle to lid hinge







1. Thread wiring harness out through pneumatic spring housing -arrow-. Push the plugs individually past the rear lid hinge.







2. Lay the ground strap in the narrow connector profile -Arrow A-and fasten with fabric tape.







3. Push a tie-wire through the pneumatic spring housing -Arrow Band attach ground lead and connector to the wiring.
4. Draw tie-wire with wiring harness out through opening -Arrow B- until rubber sleeve -b- engages fully in opening in pneumatic spring housing -c-.

NOTE: The line must run over the pneumatic spring for the rear lid.

5. Push pink socket into socket support -Arrow A- until locking tabs -Arrows B- are felt to engage.







6. Insert ground strap into support -Arrow C-.
7. Close the support -Arrow D- until the locking tab -Arrow E- is felt to engage.
8. Press in support for socket -Arrow A- until locking tabs -Arrows B- are felt to engage.







9. Screw down both ground straps together with torsion protection -a- onto ground pin with fastening nut -Arrow 1-. Tightening torque: 6.5 ftlb.
10. Insert pink connector -Arrow A- until the locking tabs -Arrows Bare felt to engage.







11. Apply adhesive sealant to edges -Arrows C- and press in styrofoam element -Arrow D- until it is felt to engage in the opening.

Installing wiring harness, left side of tailgate to lid hinge







1. Lay line in cable duct and push on cover -Arrow A- until locking tabs -Arrows B- are felt to engage.







2. Push cable duct with line onto rear lid hinge -Arrow C-.
3. Pull harness through window frame -Arrows A-.







4. Press rubber sleeve into window frame until it is felt to engage -Arrow B-.

NOTE: During removal, replace damaged clips with repair clips.

5. Clip wiring harness to window frame -Arrows C-.

NOTE: During removal, replace damaged clips with repair clips.

6. Clip in wiring harness -arrows-.







7. Tighten ground strap and torsion protection -a- to ground pin with fastening nut -Arrow 1-. Tightening torque: 6.5 ftlb.







8. Push connector onto rear window wiper -Arrow A- until locking tabs are felt to engage.







9. Push connector onto lock lower part for rear window -Arrow C-until locking tabs -Arrows B- are felt to engage.
10. Push plug connection for contact switch together -Arrows D- until locking tab -Arrow E- is felt to engage.
11. Insert plug connection into support -Arrow F- and turn it until it is felt to engage in the clip -Arrow G-.

Installing wiring harness, right side of vehicle to lid hinge







1. Push wiring harness through to the rear from the inside -Arrow A-.







NOTE: The lead must run over the pneumatic spring.

2. Pull socket through pneumatic spring housing -Arrow B- until rubber sleeve is felt to engage -Arrow C-.
3. Push blue socket into socket support -Arrow A- until locking tabs -Arrows B- are felt to engage.







4. Press in support for socket -Arrow A- until locking tabs -Arrows B- are felt to engage.







5. Insert blue connector -Arrow C- until the locking tabs -Arrows Dare felt to engage.
6. Apply adhesive sealant to edges -Arrows B- and press in styrofoam element -Arrow A- until it is felt to engage in the opening.







Installing wiring harness, right side of tailgate to lid hinge







1. Position wiring harness in wiring duct and press in cover -Arrow A- until locking tabs -Arrows B- are felt to engage.







2. Push wiring harness with wiring duct onto rear lid hinge -Arrow C-until locking tabs -Arrows D- are felt to engage.
3. Pull harness through window frame -Arrows A-.







4. Press rubber sleeve into window frame until it is felt to engage -Arrow B-.

NOTE: During removal, replace damaged clips with repair clips.

5. Clip wire harness to window frame -Arrows C-.
6. Press in wiring harness clips -Arrows A-.







NOTE: During removal, replace damaged clips with repair clips.

7. Press in wiring harness clips from the inside -Arrows B-.
8. Insert connector onto rear lid lock -Arrow A- until the locking tabs -Arrows B- are felt to engage.







9. Insert connector onto contact switch -Arrow C- until the locking tabs -Arrows D- are felt to engage.
