Passive Safety

Passive safety

Both 911 Targa 4/4S models have a bodyshell structure designed to suit the specific requirements of a vehicle with a large roof opening area. This bodyshell structure is light-weight, has extremely high torsional rigidity and includes all the design features required to guarantee excellent passive safety. As a result, it not only complies with, but often significantly exceeds all the legal requirements laid down in the countries of sale with regard to various impact and overturning tests.

High-strength steel pipes and panels were used to guarantee the required body rigidity despite the large bodyshell opening in the roof, particularly if the vehicle turns over. These -> length: 30 mm thick reinforcement pipes run through the A-pillar, then through the entire roof pillar and end at the C-pillar, where they are joined to the body base by strong gusset plates.
