Removing And Installing Rear Side Trim Panel
Technical values
Preliminary work
1. Remove back seat cushion. Refer to Removing and installing back seat cushion.
2. Remove B-pillar trim panel. Refer to Removing and installing B-pillar trim panel.
3. Remove rear roof trim panel. Refer to Removing and installing rear roof trim panel.
Removing rear side trim panel
Releasing rear belt cover
1. Insert a small screwdriver sideways into the cover -1- and remove the cover.
2. Unscrew fastening screws -2 and 3-.
3. Pull rear belt cover -4- forward in direction of travel, pull connector off the interior light -5- and set rear belt cover -4- aside.
Removing rear side trim panel
1. Release rear backrest and fold it forward.
2. Pull collar for belt opening -1- up and off.
3. Unscrew fastening screw -1- on the side trim panel -2-.
4. Remove locking pins -1- and take off stop -2-.
5. Pull locking lugs for side trim panel -3- out of the clips in the rear side section. Lift locking lugs for side trim panel at the side member and remove it.
CAUTION: Voltage peaks can damage the audio system.
- Before unplugging/removing audio components, remove ignition key and switch off audio system.
6. Disconnect electric plug connection -1- on the loudspeaker -2- and remove side trim panel.
Installing rear side trim panel
1. Plug in electric plug connection -1- on the loudspeaker -2-.
2. Position side trim panel -3- on the inside of the rear side panel and on the inner side member and press locking lugs into the clips.
3. Position stop -2- and screw in locking pins -1-. Tightening torque: 50 Nm (37 ftlb.) +2 Nm (+1.5 ftlb.)
4. Check the plastic nut -3- and replace it if necessary. Position fastening screw -2- in the side trim panel -2- and screw it in.
5. Position collar for belt opening -1- on the side trim panel using the locking lugs and press it in.
6. Lift up the rubber door seal -1- by running a plastic wedge -2- along the side trim panel -3-
7. Fold up the rear backrest and lock it.
Securing rear belt cover
1. Position rear belt cover -4-, connect connector to the interior light -5- and slide rear belt cover -4- backwards into the metal clips -6-.
2. Tighten fastening screws -2 and 3-. Tightening torque: 3 Nm (2.0 ftlb.), Tightening torque: 2 Nm (1.5 ftlb.)
3. Insert cover -1- into the belt cover -4- and press it in.
Subsequent work
1. Install rear roof trim panel. Refer to Removing and installing rear roof trim panel.
2. Install B-pillar trim panel. Refer to Removing and installing B-pillar trim panel.
3. Install back seat cushion. Refer to Removing and installing back seat cushion.
