Removing And Installing Instrument Panel

Technical values







Preliminary work

1. Remove steering column switch. Refer to Removing and installing steering column switch.
2. Remove trim under instrument panel. Refer to Removing and installing trim under instrument panel.
3. Remove instrument cluster. Refer to Removing and installing instrument cluster.
4. Remove dashboard insert. Refer to Removing and installing dashboard insert.
5. Remove passenger's airbag unit. Refer to Removing and installing passenger's airbag unit.
6. Remove stopwatch. Refer to Removing and installing stopwatch.
7. Remove cover for instrument panel (defroster cover). Refer to Removing and installing cover for instrument panel (defroster cover).
8. Remove front loudspeakers. Refer to Removing and installing front loudspeakers.
9. Remove centre console cover. Refer to Removing and installing centre console cover
10. Remove oddments tray. Refer to Removing and installing oddments tray.
11. Remove switch console. Refer to Removing and installing switch console.
12. Remove air-conditioning system regulator. Refer to Removing and installing air-conditioning system regulator.
13. Remove display and PCM operator control unit. Refer to Removing and installing display and PCM operator control unit.
14. Remove middle air vent. Refer to Removing and installing middle air vent.
15. Remove air vent at door. Refer to Removing and installing air vent at door.
16. Remove outer air ducts. Refer to Removing and installing air duct.

Removing instrument panel

Removing the device carrier







1. Undo fastening screws -1-.







INFORMATION: Unclip electrical lead in vehicles with a telephone handset.

2. Pull device carrier -2- backwards.

Undoing intermediate piece for defroster cover







1. Unscrew fastening screws -1- on defroster intermediate piece -2-.







2. Remove defroster cover lid -3-.

Removing instrument panel







1. Unscrew fastening screws -1- on the instrument panel -2- at the front passenger side.







2. Unscrew fastening screws -1- on the instrument panel -2- close to the outer air ducts.







3. Unscrew fastening screws -1- on the instrument panel -2- close to the instrument cluster and middle air vents.







INFORMATION: When removing the instrument panel, make sure that no wires or plug connections are damaged.

4. Carefully remove instrument panel -2- to the rear.

Installing instrument panel

Checking instrument panel clips







1. Check instrument panel clips and replace if necessary.







Installing instrument panel







INFORMATION: When installing the instrument panel, make sure that no wires or plug connections are trapped.

1. Carefully fit instrument panel over the instrument panel bracket.


INFORMATION: Before securing the instrument panel, make sure that all wires and plug connections are routed correctly.

2. Screw in instrument panel -2- close to the instrument cluster and middle air vents using the fastening screws -1-.







INFORMATION: Before securing the instrument panel, make sure that all wires and plug connections are routed correctly.

3. Screw in instrument panel -2- at the lower front passenger side using the fastening screws -1-.







4. Screw in instrument panel -2- close to the outer air ducts using the fastening screws -1-.







Securing intermediate piece for defroster cover







1. Position fastening screws -1- with the defroster cover lid -3- on the intermediate piece for the defroster cover -2- and tighten as required. Tightening torque: Final tightening: 3 Nm (ftlb.) (2)







Installing the device carrier







1. Position device carrier -2- and screw down using the fastening screws -1-. Tightening torque: Final tightening: 3 Nm (ftlb.) (2)







Subsequent work

1. Install outer air ducts. Refer to Removing and installing air duct.
2. Install middle air vent. Refer to Removing and installing middle air vent.
3. Install air vent at door. Refer to Removing and installing air vent at door.
4. Install display and PCM operator control unit. Refer to Removing and installing display and PCM operator control unit.
5. Install air-conditioning system regulator. Refer to Removing and installing air-conditioning system regulator.
6. Install switch console. Refer to Removing and installing switch console.
7. Install oddments tray. Refer to Removing and installing oddments tray.
8. Install centre console cover. Refer to Removing and installing centre console cover.
9. Install front loudspeakers. Refer to Removing and installing front loudspeakers.
10. Install cover for instrument panel (defroster cover). Refer to Removing and installing cover for instrument panel (defroster cover).
11. Install stopwatch. Refer to Removing and installing stopwatch.
12. Install passenger's airbag unit. Refer to Removing and installing passenger's airbag unit.
13. Install dashboard insert. Refer to Removing and installing dashboard insert.
14. Install instrument cluster. Refer to Removing and installing instrument cluster.
15. Install trim under instrument panel. Refer to Removing and installing trim under instrument panel.
16. Install steering column switch. Refer to Removing and installing steering column switch.
