Vehicle type:
911 Turbo (997)

Model Year:
2007

Concerns:
Oil lines leading to the turbochargers (pressure lines).

Situation:

- Leak at the pipe connection for the turbocharger.

- "Oily" turbocharger.

As of engine no. M97/70 627 03914, the connection piece for the connection to the turbocharger has been modified at the oil pressure lines leading to the turbochargers (=> Figure 1, adapter is now longer, O-rings are coated).

If a complaint is received in relation to an "oily" turbocharger on an engine up to engine no. M97/70 627 03913, this is caused by a defective O-ring on the oil pressure line adapter.

Action Required:

The following applies in the event of a complaint:

- Do not replace the oily turbocharger.

- Remove the oil residue using a suitable cleaning agent (e.g. "Meta Clean 366", "solvent naphtha" or similar products) and dry it off with a cloth.

- Remove the oil pressure line for the turbocharger. =>

- Workshop Manual 21711950 Removing and installing oil pressure line for turbocharger.

ATTENTION:
When installing new oil pressure line: There is the possibility of new leaks at the pipe connection on the turbocharger side due to damaged 0-rings if......

^ ... you touch the 0-rings with your hands/fingers and/or clean them with a cloth,

^ ... a lubricating compound is used (=> Figure 2).

=> Install new oil pressure line, => Workshop Manual 21711950 Removing and Installing oil pressure line for turbocharger.

- Do not remove the protective caps on the new line until just before you install the line (on the turbocharger or crankcase).

=> Do not touch or clean the 0-rings on the adapter.

> Do NOT use lubricating compound during installation.
