Removing And Installing Rear Silencer
Technical values
Preliminary work
1. Remove air cleaner housing.
2. Remove rear apron.
3. Remove bumper.

Removing rear silencer
DANGER:
Parts of the exhaust system become extremely hot.
- Danger of burns
- Permanent scarring of the skin
- Do not begin work until the exhaust system has cooled down completely.
- If it is imperative that you work on the hot exhaust system, ensure that you wear fire-resistant and heat-resistant protective gear.
Component overview
1. Disconnect plug connections -1- and -2- oxygen sensors for both cylinder banks.
2. Expose lines up to the oxygen sensors.
3. Unscrew Torx screws (M6 x 12) for cover plate on the turbocharger oil tank.
4. Unscrew M8 fastening nuts -Arrows-.
5. Get another person to help support the rear silencer.
6. Unscrew hexagon-head bolts (M8 x 50) -Arrows- on the restraining straps.
7. Slide restraining straps down off the holders -Arrow-.
8. Remove rear silencer with the help of an assistant. Remove the cover plates -2- along with the rear silencer.
Installing rear silencer
1. Position new seals on turbocharger flange.
2. Position rear silencer and cover plates.
3. Route oxygen sensor lines provisionally.
4. Position restraining straps.
5. Fit hexagon-head bolts (M8 x 50) -Arrows- on the restraining straps.
6. Fit and tighten Torx screws (M6 x 12) -1- on the cover plates. Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)
7. Fit and tighten M8 lock nuts -Arrows- and washers. Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)
8. Route oxygen sensor lines and clip them into the corresponding holders.
Subsequent work
1. Install bumper.
2. Install rear apron.
3. Install air cleaner housing.
