Lambda Sensor Downstream of Catalytic Converter
Removing And Installing Lambda Sensor Downstream Of Catalytic Converter
Tools
Technical values
Preliminary work
DANGER:
Risk of engine falling down.
- Danger of fatal injury, material damage.
- Support the engine with the prescribed tool.
1. Remove pressure pipe.
2. Remove air cleaner housing.
3. Lower the engine.
Lower the engine by max 40 mm.
Support the engine using a jack and retainer plate P 9592.
Loosen and screw off M12 collar nuts on the engine mounting. Carefully lower the engine using the jack.
Removing lambda sensor downstream of catalytic converter
1. Observe precautionary measures when working with lambda sensors.
2. Disconnect lambda sensor lines.
2.1. Pull connector-1, 5-for the lambda sensor wire with the black boot out of the bracket -3, 4- and disconnect plug connections.
NOTE: Always expose oxygen sensor wire far enough for it to be able to turn when unscrewing the sensor.
3. Expose lambda sensor lines.
3.1. Expose lambda sensor line on side 4-6.
Unclip right lambda sensor line -2- (with the black boot) out of the brackets -3, 4-.
3.2. Expose lambda sensor line on side 1-3.
Unclip left lambda sensor line -2- (with the black boot) out of the brackets -3, 4-.
4. Remove lambda sensors downstream of catalytic converter.
4.1. Remove lambda sensor downstream of catalytic converter on side 4-6.
Loosen and unscrew right lambda sensor -6- downstream of catalytic converter -8- using an open ring wrench Nr.96-3 and torque wrench Nr.92 Pos.1.
4.2. Remove lambda sensor downstream of catalytic converter on side 1 -3.
Loosen and unscrew left lambda sensor -5- downstream of catalytic converter -9- using an open ring wrench Nr.98 and torque wrench Nr.92 Pos.1.
Installing lambda sensor downstream of catalytic converter
1. Observe precautionary measures when working with lambda sensors.
NOTE:
- When reinstalling lambda sensors, grease the thread with Porsche high-temperature grease (Part No. 000.043.207.07).
- New lambda sensors have already been greased and the thread is fitted with a protection cap.
2. Install lambda sensors.
2.1. During reinstallation, the thread of the lambda sensors must be coated with the prescribed grease.
2.2. Install lambda sensor on side 4-6.
Screw in lambda sensor -6- downstream of catalytic converter -8-. Then tighten it with the open ring wrench Nr.98 and torque wrench Nr.92 Pos.1.
- Tightening torque: 55 Nm (41 ftlb.) ±5 Nm ( ±3.5 ftlb.)
3. Install lambda sensor on side 1-3.
3.1. During reinstallation, the thread of the lambda sensors must be coated with the prescribed grease.
3.2. Screw in lambda sensor -5- downstream of catalytic converter -9-. Then tighten it with the open ring wrench Nr.98 and torque wrench Nr.92 Pos.1.
- Tightening torque: 55 Nm (41 ftlb.) ±5 Nm ( ±3.5 ftlb.)
4. Route lambda sensor lines.
4.1. Route lambda sensor line on side 4-6.
Clip lambda sensor line -2- with the black boot into the brackets -3, 4-.
4.2. Route lambda sensor line on side 1-3.
Clip lambda sensor line -2- with the black boot into the brackets -3, 4-.
5. Connect lambda sensor lines.
Connect plug connections -1, 5- for lambda sensors with the black boot and insert into the bracket -3, 4-.
Subsequent work
1. Raise the engine.
Raise engine into installation position with a jack, using retainer plate P 9592 to do this. Screw in and tighten M12 collar nuts.
- Tightening torque: 85 Nm (63 ftlb.)
2. Install air cleaner housing.
3. Install pressure pipe.
