Removing And Installing Secondary-air Pump

Preliminary work

1. Remove pressure pipe.
2. Remove air cleaner housing.
3. Remove fuel filter.
4. Lower the engine.
Lower the engine by max. 40 mm.
Support the engine with a jack and retainer plate P 9592.
Loosen and screw off M12 collar nuts on the engine mounting. Carefully lower the engine using the jack.

Removing secondary-air pump

1. Remove secondary-air pump.







1.1. Unclip vacuum and fuel lines from the line bracket and secure to the coolant reservoir using a tie-wrap.







1.2. Pull off air hose -2- on secondary-air pump -1-.
Press rapid-action coupling together and pull off the released air hose -2-.
1.3. Remove screws -3-.
1.4. Disconnect electric plug connection -4-.
1.5. Carefully remove secondary-air pump -1-.

Installing secondary-air pump

1. Install secondary-air pump.







1.1. Insert secondary-air pump -1-.
Guide secondary-air pump -1- through between the coolant reservoir and intake-air distributor.

1.2. Connect cable plug -4- to secondary-air pump.
1.3. Fit and tighten screws -3-.
- Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)

1.4. Attach air hose -2- to secondary-air pump -1-.
Rapid-action coupling must lock with an audible click.







1.5. Open tie-wrap and move lines into installation position.

Subsequent work

1. Raise the engine.
Raise the engine to assembly position using a retainer plate P 9592.
Screw in and tighten M12 collar nuts.
- Tightening torque: 85 Nm (63 ftlb.)

2. Install fuel filter.
3. Install air cleaner housing.
4. Install pressure pipe.
