Front Axle

Front Axle

The basis for the new 911 Turbo is the proven front axle concept of the current 911 Carrera 4 (997) models. Springs, dampers and anti-roll bars have been redesigned and adapted specifically for the Turbo.

Further developments compared with the 911 Turbo (996):
- Widening of track by 18 mm
- New front-axle cross member
- Modified wheel bearing housing
- Reinforced wheel bearings
- Hydraulic mounts on trailing link/control arm for enhanced steering comfort

The modifications were made due to higher component loads and increased performance requirements. In addition, the goal was to improve crash safety and brake cooling, reduce weight, achieve more precise wheel guidance and enhance steering comfort. The measures implemented provide the new 911 Turbo with improved driving dynamics with higher lateral acceleration and reduced body tilt tendency (roll tendency).
