Rear Axle
Rear Axle
The multi-link axle used in the new 911 Turbo (997) is a further development from the 911 Turbo (996) and essentially corresponds to the current 911 Carrera generation. The springs and dampers were specially adapted and the anti-roll bars redesigned for the new 911 Turbo.
Further developments compared with the 911 Turbo (996):
- Widening of track by 20 mm.
- Stiffening of the auxiliary frame and wheel carriers.
- Use of lightweight suspension struts with aluminium dampers.
- Use of supporting mounts with increased rolling comfort.
The modifications were made due to higher component loads, weight reductions and increased vehicle performance, and provide the new 911 Turbo with higher lateral acceleration and enhanced rolling comfort.
