Tire Monitoring System: Description and Operation
Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPM)
The new 911 Turbo is delivered with the Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPM) as standard equipment. Apart from offering greater protection from possible tire damage, the simple means of monitoring the correct tire pressure offered by Tire Pressure Monitoring prevents uneven tire wear and unnecessarily high fuel consumption. The correct tire pressure additionally ensures safe driving and high driving dynamics. The air pressure is indicated for each wheel, facilitating systematic correction of too low or too high air pressure.
The great safety bonus provided by Tire Pressure Monitoring is the warning function in case of excessive pressure loss. In the event of a pressure loss of more than 7.25 psi (0.5 bar) on one or more tires, a red warning signal lights up on the display while the vehicle is in motion, accompanied by an acoustic alarm. This warning appears as soon as the pressures fall below the prescribed values, whether the car is stationary or moving.
