Disassembling And Assembling Frame For Sunroof Cover

Preliminary work

Technical Values







1. Remove frame for sliding roof cover. Refer to Removing and installing frame for sliding roof cover.
2. Remove sun blind. Refer to Removing and installing sun blind.

1. Unscrew fastening screws -1- on the drive tubing (metal guide tubes) -2- (-arrow-).







2. Unscrew fastening screws -1- and fastening nuts -2- at the left and right on the drive tubing -3- and pull tubing out slightly in -direction of arrow-.







3. Unscrew fastening nuts -1- on the blind shaft mount at the right -2- and left -3- (-arrow-).







4. Pull drive shaft -1- at the left and right in -direction of arrow- to remove it from the frame for the sliding roof cover -2-.







5. Pull support bow -1- and bracket -2- out of the frame for the sliding roof cover -3- in -direction of arrow-.







6. Drill out rivets -1- on the profile strip -2-.







7. Pull seal -1- up all the way around out of the groove in the frame for the sliding roof cover -2- (-arrow-).

Assembling frame for sliding roof cover

1. Fit seal.
1.1. Prime bonding surfaces at the corners of the frame for the sliding roof cover -2- with 3M 4297 primer.
1.2. Press seal -1- all the way around into the groove in the frame for the sliding roof cover -2-.
1.3. Pull protective film -3- off the adhesive strips at the corners of the seal -1-. Also apply a few drops of instant adhesive to the corners and press seal -1- on firmly at the corners to secure it to the frame for the sliding roof cover -2-.







2. Position profile strip -1- and secure with new rivets -2-.







3. Fit support bow -1- and bracket -2- into the frame for the sliding roof cover -3- in -direction of arrow-.







4. Insert drive shaft -1- at the left and right in -direction of arrow- to fit it into the frame for the sliding roof cover -2-.







5. Position blind shaft mount at the right -1- and left -2- and secure with fastening nuts -3-. Tightening torque: 5.5 Nm (4.0 ftlb.)







6. Insert drive tubing -3- at the left and right into the frame for the sliding roof cover in -direction of arrow- and secure with the fastening screws -2- and fastening nuts -1-. Tightening torque: 5.5 Nm (4.0 ftlb.)







7. Position drive tubing -1- in -direction of arrow- and secure with the fastening screws -2-. Tightening torque: 5.5 Nm (4.0 ftlb.)







Subsequent work

1. Install sun blind. Refer to Removing and installing sun blind.
2. Install frame for sliding roof cover. Refer to Removing and installing frame for sliding roof cover.
