Removing And Installing Frame For Sliding Roof Cover

Technical Values







Preliminary work

1. Remove cover for sliding roof. Refer to Removing and installing cover for sliding roof.

Removing frame for sliding roof cover







INFORMATION:
- To remove the frame for the sliding roof cover, the mounts must be moved into horizontal position.
- To do this, actuate the rocker switch or sunroof emergency release. Refer to Removing and installing motor for glass sliding roof.

1. Unscrew fastening screws -1- from the mounts at the front -2- and rear -3-.







2. Cut tie-wraps -1- on the wire harness -2-.







3. Cut tie-wraps -1- on the water drain hose -2- at the right and left. Pull the water drain hose out of the holder.







4. Raise the frame for the sliding roof cover -1- at the front and guide it upwards out of the roof assembly frame -2- - first pull the right side of the frame and then the left side up and out.







Installing frame for sliding roof cover

INFORMATION:
- To install the frame for the sliding roof cover, the mounts must be moved into horizontal position.
- To do this, actuate the rocker switch or sunroof emergency release. Refer to Removing and installing motor for glass sliding roof.

1. Guide the frame for the sliding roof cover -1- into the roof assembly frame -2- and position it on the fastening points of the mounts -3- at the front and rear -4-.







2. Screw in fastening screws -1- loosely. Secure with screw locking agent -Loctite 243-.







CAUTION: Malfunction in the sliding roof cover.
- If the mounting plates of the mounts are not braced adequately against each other, rattling noises may occur while driving.
- If the mounting plates of the mounts are excessively braced against each other, a malfunction (sluggishness) may occur when opening and closing the sliding roof cover.


3. The mounting plates of the mounts at the front -1- and rear -2- must be braced against each other. Starting at the right front and rear, insert a wide screwdriver between the mounting plate of the mount and the frame -3- (-Arrow-) and press the mounting plate of the mount outwards.
Adjust it until it is parallel (-Dimension X-) to the roof assembly.







4. Tighten fastening screws -4-. Tightening torque: 7.5 Nm (5.5 ftlb.)
5. Secure wire harness -2- with tie-wraps -1-.







6. Engage water drain hose -2- at the right and left in the bracket and secure with tie-wraps -1-.







7. Function check on frame for sliding roof cover

To prevent the frame from rattling, test drive the vehicle on an uneven surface with the sliding roof cover open and closed. Then open and close the sliding roof cover five times.

Observe the safety instructions.

Repeat the steps for adjusting the frame for the sliding roof cover if necessary and increase or reduce the bracing tension on the mounting plates of the mounts as required.

Subsequent work

1. Install cover for sliding roof. Refer to Removing and installing cover for sliding roof.
