Eliminating Noise Symptoms - Reworking Rear Side Section Flap

Symptom
Grating noises from around the C-pillar during hardtop operation.
Causes and remedial action
Cause
Operating the hardtop causes relative movements between the T-bolts and rear side section flap, resulting in grating noises.
Remedial action
In the event of a complaint, stick two strips of tricot tape on the rear side section flap (at the left and right), in the T-bolt contact surface area.

Preliminary work
1. Remove rear side section flap at the left and right. Refer to Removing and installing rear side section flap.
Reworking rear side section flap
1. Cut two strips of tricot tape each approx. 40 mm long.
INFORMATION:
- The bonding surfaces must be clean and free of grease.
- Make sure that the bonding areas overlap sufficiently both inside and out and also that bonding is guaranteed by using contact pressure.
2. Stick and overlap tricot tape -1- at the centre of the outer edge of the rear side section flap -2- (-arrows-).
Subsequent work
1. Install rear side section flap at the left and right. Refer to Removing and installing rear side section flap.
