Preliminary work

Move hood to service position. Refer to Hood service position

Removing seal for hood tip

Removing cover strip

1. Unscrew fastening screws -1- and remove cover strip -2- and buffer -3- from the roof frame -4- (-arrow-).







Removing seal for hood tip

INFORMATION: The seal on the roof frame is in two parts.

1. Pull the lower seal -1- at the sides out of the profile of the retaining strip -2- (-arrow-).







2. Unscrew fastening screws -3- at the front on the roof frame.
3. Remove fastening screws -1- from the retaining strip -2-. Detach seal for hood tip -3-.







4. Remove additional seal -4- (-arrow-).

Installing seal for hood tip

INFORMATION:
- Seal for convertible-top tip must not protrude downwards in the corner area. Make sure it is positioned correctly.
- The seal on the roof frame is in two parts.

1. Pull off protective film and fit additional seal -4- flush with the roof frame -arrow-.







INFORMATION: Make sure the additional seal is clamped under the retaining strip.

2. Insert seal for hood tip -3- into the roof frame at the corners from the front, position retaining strip -2- on the side of the roof frame and secure using the fastening screws -1-. Tightening torque: 2.8 Nm (2 ftlb.)
3. Press lower seal -1- into profile of retaining strip -2-.







4. Screw in fastening screws -3- at the front on the roof frame. Tightening torque: 2.8 Nm (2 ftlb.)

Installing cover strip

INFORMATION: Seal for convertible-top tip must not be trapped. There must be no gap between seal and covering, and the seal with the covering must run evenly. If necessary, pull the seal up and out and tap it in again.

1. Push buffer -3- onto the cover strip and centre it. Position cover strip -2- on the roof frame -4- and secure with the fastening screws -1- (-arrow-). Tightening torque: 3.5 Nm (2.5 ftlb.)
