Cylinder Head Cover (Valve Cover)



Removing and installing cylinder head cover on V6 DFI engines





Preliminary work

1. Remove intake-air distributor.
2. Remove bar ignition modules.

Removing cylinder head cover

1. Remove cylinder head cover.
1.1. Unscrew oil cap.
1.2. Unscrew all fastening screws -3-.
1.3. Lift off cylinder head cover (valve cover) and set it down on a clean surface.

Installing cylinder head cover

1. Install cylinder head cover (valve cover)

Information:
^ The seals on the ignition coil slots have a twist lock. These must be inserted into the corresponding cut-out on the cylinder head cover.

1.1. Replace cylinder head cover gasket and shank seals.
1.2. Tighten fastening screws -3- hand-tight.

Information:
^ The cylinder head cover must be tightened evenly in a clockwise direction!
^ The sealing rings of the M6 fastening screws with distance sleeve must be checked for damage and replaced if necessary!

1.3. Tighten fastening screws cross-wise. -> Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)
1.4. Screw on oil cap.

Subsequent work

1. Install bar ignition modules.
2. Install intake-air distributor.
