1. Remove Tiptronic gears.

Warning:
Danger of scalding and chemical burns from hot ATF
- Allow ATF to cool down
- Wear personal protective gear (goggles, gloves)
1. Place oil collection pan under the converter bell housing.
Information:
- ATF can leak out when removing the torque converter.
- Place torque converter with transmission side pointing upwards.
2. Remove torque converter from the transmission shaft.

1. Clean converter bell housing to remove any oil that has emerged.
2. Push torque converter as far as it will go on to the transmission shaft.
Information:
Ensure that converter is seated correctly.
3. The converter is installed at the correct position when the special tool locating pin 95950 can be inserted through the opening in the converter bell housing in front of the converter.

Caution:
Leaks due to incorrect assembly sequence of torque converter
- Leaks after a new sealing ring was fitted
- Leaks following installation of the torque converter
- Observe installation instructions
4. When sliding in the torque converter -1-, the sealing lip of the shaft sealing ring can bend over because of a ridge on the torque converter -1-. -Down arrow-

5. Pull torque converter -1- out by approx. 5 mm. This moves the shaft sealing ring back into its correct installation position.

6. Push torque converter as far as it will go on to the transmission shaft.

Ensure that converter is seated correctly.
7. The converter is installed at the correct position when the special tool locating pin 95950 can be inserted through the opening in the converter bell housing in front of the converter.

Reworking the torque converter
1. Install Tiptronic transmission.
2. Check and if necessary, top up the ATF.
