Important information

Information

- If the Kessy control unit is replaced, it must be programmed using the Porsche System Tester. This will ensure that the control unit is taught for the relevant vehicle, country version and equipment.

- If possible, before the control unit is removed and replaced, a read-out of the vehicle data should be obtained from the Porsche System Tester.

- If not coded, select the vehicle-dependent, required version and code with F8.






Obtaining read-out and saving vehicle data from control unit

Information

- In order to guarantee the function of the control unit after teaching, the coding value in the old control unit must be read out or determined again. This value must be written into the new control unit after teaching.

1. Connect the Porsche System Tester to the vehicle and start the System Tester.
2. Switch on ignition.
3. Select the vehicle type.
4. Select Kessy/immobiliser control unit and press >>.
5. Select Control unit replacement and press >>.
6. Select Read out values and press >>.
7. The message Coding read-out complete appears on the Porsche System Tester screen.
8. Following replacement of the Kessy/immobiliser control unit, the data that was read out is installed when Teach Kessy/immobiliser is selected in the menu (see Step 6).

Removing Kessy/immobiliser control unit

Information

- The control unit is located beside the hot air unit.





Overview of Kessy/immobiliser control unit

1. Remove footwell outlet vent on driver's side.
2. Press the two locking lugs apart -arrows A-. Pull the control unit to the right and down -arrow B-.

3. Press the connector -arrow A- and pull it off. Open the lock -arrow B- on the connector -arrow C- and remove the connector.

4. Remove the control unit.

Installing Kessy/immobiliser control unit

1. Connect and lock the connector -arrow C- ( -arrow B- ).

2. Plug in the connector -arrow A- until it engages securely.
3. Slide the control unit into the upper mounting point -arrow B- and engage it in the holder -arrows A-.

Subsequent work

Programming a new Kessy/immobiliser control unit

Information

- All original keys are required for teaching.

- If a new Kessy control unit is to be installed in a vehicle, the immobiliser code specified in the PIWIS Infosystem must be entered.

- You can get the codes from the PIWIS Infosystem or from your importer by specifying the vehicle identification number.

- During programming, it is essential to guarantee the power supply for the Porsche System Tester. A battery charger with a current rating of at least 40 A must be connected to the vehicle battery.

- The Porsche System Tester instructions take precedence and in the event of a discrepancy these are the instructions that must be followed. Deviations may occur with later software versions.

- The procedure described here has been structured in general terms; different text or additions may appear in the Porsche System Tester.

- In order to guarantee the function of the control unit after teaching, the coding value in the old control unit must be read out or determined again. 1. Switch off ignition.
2. Replace control unit. => 966619 Removing and installing Kessy/immobiliser control unit - section on "Removing"
3. With the ignition off, connect the Porsche System Tester (PIWIS Tester) to the vehicle and start the System Tester.

- The brake pedal must be pressed or the hazard warning light switch must be switched on during the control unit search. The reason for this is that the CAN remains active. If the brake pedal is not pressed, the Kessy control unit will not be recognised.

4. Select the vehicle type.
5. Select Kessy/immobiliser control unit and press >>.
6. Select Control unit replacement in the menu and press >>.
7. Select Teach Kessy/immobiliser and press >>.
8. Select the model year and press >>.

Information

- Follow the instructions on the Tester.

9. Select Left-hand drive (LHD) or Right-hand drive (RHD) , depending on the vehicle and press >>.
10. Insert key 1 and press >>.
11. Select Teach Kessy and press >>.
12. Switch on the ignition when instructed by the Tester and press >> to continue.
13. Enter the new engine immobiliser code and press >>. Then check the code and confirm your entry by pressing F7.
14. Check the key coding and if the coding is OK or when recoding => 15. is complete, press <<.
15. If the key is not yet coded or was coded incorrectly, start the key coding process by pressing >> and follow the instructions on the Tester.

16. Select Teach keys and press >>.
17. Switch on the ignition when instructed by the Tester and hold the ignition key at the on position.
18. Switch off the ignition when instructed by the Tester and hold the key at the off position.

Information

- Follow the instructions on the Tester.

19. >If other keys are used< insert the other keys and repeat Steps 14 to 16 following the instructions on the Tester.
20. Update the immobiliser code within the prescribed time by selecting Control unit programming under DME.
21. Read out and erase the fault memory.

Replacing Kessy/immobiliser control unit

Information

- If the Kessy control unit from a different vehicle is being used, proceed as follows. As a check, the immobiliser code of the vehicle in which the control unit is being installed (NEW) and of the vehicle from which the control unit has been removed (OLD) are required.

- You can get the necessary codes from the PIWIS Infosystem or from your importer by specifying the vehicle identification number.

- During DME programming, it is essential to guarantee the power supply for the Porsche System Tester. A battery charger with a current rating of at least 40 A must be connected to the vehicle battery.
