Removing side step (skidpad)
Installation position of side step
1. Remove side step.
Releasing rear wheel housing liner
1.1. Unscrew fastening screws -1- on rear wheel housing liner -2- in the lower area -arrow-.
1.2. Lift off rear wheel housing liner -1- in the lower area -arrow A- and unscrew fastening screw -2- ( -arrow B- ).
Loosening side step
1.3. Unscrew fastening screws -1- and remove side step -2- by pulling it downwards with the help of an assistant -arrow-.
Removing side step
2. Remove side-step brackets.
Removing rear bracket
2.1. Unscrew fastening screws -1- and remove rear bracket -2-.
2.2. Unscrew fastening screws -1- and remove centre bracket -2-.

2.3. Unscrew fastening screws -1- and remove front bracket -2-.

Information
- Additionally note the information on retrofitting in the => "Technical Information: Take note of 09/03, running board 6626 ".
1. Install side-step brackets.
1.1. Check blind rivet nuts for mounting the step brackets to ensure that they are fitted correctly and are not damaged; replace the nuts if necessary.
1.2. Position front bracket -2- on the body and secure with the fastening screws -1-. => Tightening torque: 26 Nm (19 ftlb.)+/-2.6 Nm (+/-2.0 ftlb.)
Installing front bracket
1.3. Position centre bracket -2- on the body and secure with the fastening screws -1-. => Tightening torque: 26 Nm (19 ftlb.)+/-2.6 Nm (+/-2.0 ftlb.)
Installing centre bracket
1.4. Position rear bracket -2- on the body and secure with the fastening screws -1-. => Tightening torque: 26 Nm (19 ftlb.)+/-2.6 Nm (+/-2.0 ftlb.)

2. Install side step.
Installing side step
2.1. Position side step -2- on the side-step brackets -arrow- with the help of an assistant and secure with the fastening screws -1-. => Tightening torque: 26 Nm (19 ftlb.)+/-2.6 Nm (+/-2.0 ftlb.)
2.2. Lift off rear wheel housing liner -1- in the lower area -arrow A- and tighten the fastening screw -2- ( -arrow B- ).=> Tightening torque: 1.5 Nm (1.0 ftlb.)+/-0.5 Nm (+/-0.5 ftlb.)
Securing side step
2.3. Screw in fastening screws -1- on rear wheel housing liner -2- in the lower area -arrow-. => Tightening torque: 2.5 Nm (2.0 ftlb.)+/-0.5 Nm (+/-0.5 ftlb.)
