Supporting V8 4.8 l DFI engine on the body
Preliminary work
1. Remove engine cover at the plenum panel at the middle and left.
2. Pull design cover off the throttle valve.

Supporting the engine on the body
Warning
Danger of injury from failing loads!
Drive line components (engine, transmission, etc.) can fall down.
- Before starting work, check the body for structural damage (accident, corrosion, etc.). The load capacity of the wing mounting points must not be restricted.
- Do not apply excessive force (e.g. a high screw torque) to supported units.
- Units must not be supported on the body over an extended period of time.
Danger
Danger of injury from incorrect use of tools and from failing loads!
Danger of crushing from heavy loads!
- When working on the engine suspension, the engine must be appropriately secured against falling or lowering.
- Never use defective lifting equipment (bent or damaged tools must not be used or repaired. Always replace these tools). Check tools for signs of damage before use.
- Only use lifting equipment tested and approved by Porsche. Home-made and auxiliary constructions result in improper use and are dangerous.
- The transport eyebolt can only bear vertical traction with no side or transverse forces. Side loads (e.g. from chains or cables) will damage the transport eyebolt, which must then be replaced. Extreme cases of improper use can break the transport eyebolt.
- Tools and lifting equipment must always be used properly. Improper use or dangerous home-made constructions can break tools and result in falling loads.
- Wear protective gloves.
Information
Never use defective lifting equipment (bent or damaged tools must not be used or repaired. Always replace these tools). Check tools for signs of damage before use.
Information
The engine must be supported on the body for some repair work on the front axle and engine bearings.
1. Move bonnet into service position.
2. Safety device 10-222 A must be extended using the adapter 9591/2 spacers as an aid. Position the safety device on the inside of the wing, near the plenum panel, and align it. Then tighten the two winged nuts.
Spacers and safety device
3. Suspending device 3033 must be engaged in one hook.
Engine suspending device
Information
When assembling the suspending device, make sure that adjacent components are not scratched or damaged.
4. Engage the rear hook of the rear left engine suspension on the engine in the rear engine carrier eyebolt.
Rear suspension
5. Engage front right transport hook onto engine carrier eyebolt.
6. Adjust the engine mount at the spindles and set it as horizontal as possible. Tension the engine slightly and make sure that the force is distributed uniformly over both spindles. Do not load the spindles at the side, and position them until they are as vertical as possible. Assemble as shown in the figures.

Subsequent work
1. Fit design cover on the throttle valve.
2. Fit engine cover at the plenum panel at the middle and left.
