Removing control unit for Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC)





Installation position of control unit for Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC)

1. Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
2. Fold the right rear seat forward.
3. Cut through carpeted floor in -area a- with a carpet knife and fold it over to one side.

4. Screw off fastening nuts -1- on the PDCC control unit.

5. Remove PDCC control unit holder.
5.1. Remove PDCC control unit -1- from the studs and press it to one side -arrow A-
5.2. Screw off fastening nuts -2- on holder -3- and remove PDCC control unit holder -arrow B-.

6. Remove PDCC control unit.
6.1. Release connector -1- ( -arrow A- ) and pull it off the PDCC control unit -2- ( -arrow B- ).
6.2. Remove PDCC control unit -2- ( -arrow C- ).

Installing control unit for Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC)

1. Install PDCC control unit.
1.1. Fit PDCC control unit -2- ( -arrow A- ).
1.2. Plug in connector -1- on PDCC control unit -2- ( -arrow C- ) and lock the connector -1- ( -arrow B- ).

2. Install PDCC control unit holder.
2.1. Insert PDCC control unit holder -3- and fit it on the studs -arrow A-.
2.2. Secure PDCC control unit holder -3- by screwing on the fastening nuts -2-.
2.3. Fit PDCC control unit -3- on the studs -arrow B-.

3. Tighten fastening nuts -1- on the control unit.

4. Secure carpeted floor.
4.1. Affix double-sided adhesive tape in the marked area and pull protective film off the adhesive tape.
4.2. Fold carpeted floor over -arrows- and press down firmly.

5. Fold the right rear seat back.

Replacing control unit for Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC)

Information

- If the control unit is replaced, the control unit must be coded using the PIWIS Tester 9718. This adapts the control unit to the vehicle and equipment.

- Before the control unit is removed and replaced, a read-out of the vehicle data should be obtained (if possible) using the PIWIS Tester 9718.

- During coding, it is essential to guarantee the power supply for the PIWIS Tester 9718. A battery charger with a current rating of at least 40 A must be connected to the vehicle battery.

- The PIWIS Tester 9718 instructions take precedence, and in the event of a discrepancy these are the instructions that must be followed. Deviations may occur with later software versions. The description is based on the Tester software release 17.02.

- The procedure described here has been structured in general terms; different text or additions may appear in the PIWIS Tester 9718.

1. PIWIS Tester 9718 must be connected to the vehicle. Start the PIWIS Tester. Switch on ignition using original key and press >> to continue.
2. Select vehicle type and press >>.
3. Select the PDCC control unit and press >>.
4. Control unit replacement must then be selected. Press >> to continue.

If the values cannot be read out from the PDCC control unit (e.g. control unit is defective), skip the step for reading values and proceed with writing values.

5. Select Read-out values and press >>.
6. The PIWIS Tester 9718 screen displays the message Values were read out >>.

8. Switch on ignition. After replacing the control unit, select the Coding menu and press >>. Select vehicle variant and change it if necessary.
9. Go to Control unit replacement and select the Write values menu. Then load the values that were read out and press >>.
10. Press F8 to start synchronising the pressure sensors and then press >> to continue.

WARNING

The vehicle begins to sway to the left and right at the start of the low-pressure and high-pressure check

- Risk of squashing
- Risk of damage to the vehicle

-> The vehicle must stand freely and must not be jacked up.
-> Make sure the vehicle is at least => Length: 80 cm away from people and objects at all sides.

11. Start the engine, follow the instructions on the PIWIS Tester 9718 and start the low-pressure check by pressing >>. Tester reports that the low-pressure check was completed successfully. Press >>.

Information

Set damper hardness to normal.

Set air-spring level to normal and switch it off.

12. With the engine running, follow the instructions on the PIWIS Tester 9718 and start the high-pressure check by pressing >>. Tester reports that the high-pressure check was completed successfully. Press >>.
13. Read out the fault memory and erase it if necessary.
14. Carry out a test drive, then read out the fault memory and if there are faults present, correct them according to the Guided Fault Finding instructions.
