2. Remove cover under dashboard right.
3. Remove front right side section trim.
4. Remove front right seat frame.
Reworking Main Wire Harness
Rework Main Wire Harness (connection Points A And B) - Side Member Area On The Right
1. Pull back carpeted floor and sound absorber slightly -A- in the front right footwell.
2. Lift carpeted floor -A- on the right side at the entrance and fold inward.
3. Unclip cover for main wire harness -B- and open it.
4. Remove the four tie-wraps and expose main wire harness.
INFORMATION: Corrosion can be identified by leads that are tarnished or discoloured instead of bright.
5. Remove insulating tape from all connection points (between 4 and 8, depending on the vehicle equipment) and check connection points for corrosion.
5.1. Corrosion recognisable - continue with step 6.
5.2. No corrosion recognisable - continue with step 9.
INFORMATION:
- To avoid mixing up the lines, one of them should be crimped again after the other connection point.
- Allocation of lines - see wiring diagram.
6. Cut away one of the exposed connection points -A- with a side cutters and strip off insulation until no more corrosion can be seen. The leads must be bright and no longer tarnished or discoloured.
INFORMATION:
- The greatest care must be used in the individual work steps for stripping insulation from, crimping, and shrinking/insulating the electric lines.
- The procedure for stripping insulation from, crimping, and shrinking/insulating the electric lines must be complied with and observed. The procedures are described in detail in the Repair kit for Cayenne harnesses NR.155-2.
- Crimping samples are to be prepared before beginning work.
7. Crimp stripped line ends of the connection point using crimping sleeves and the hand crimping pliers from the Repair kit for Cayenne harnesses NR.155-2.
8. Cut off all other corroded connection points, one after another, strip off the insulation and crimp them again.
9. Insulate all connection points with a suitable shrink-fit hose -A- and carefully shrink them using the hot-air blower with special nozzle (recommended accessories for the repair kit for harnesses) so that they are watertight.
10. Route main wire harness and fasten with four new tie-wraps. Shorten tie-wraps.
11. Close cover of main wire harness -B-.
12. Fold back carpeted floor -A- on the right side at the entrance.
13. If necessary after moisture leakage, place the vehicle in the drying cabin for 3 - 4 hours (overnight if necessary) at a temperature of approx 60°C.
14. Fold back carpeted floor and sound absorber -A- in the front right footwell.
Subsequent work
1. Investigate the moisture leakage using the traces of water. Take into account the description "Sealing front panel".
2. Install front right seat frame.
3. Install front right side section trim.
4. Install cover under right instrument panel.
5. Carry out work instructions after disconnecting the battery.
