Removing and installing sealing ring for parking lock shaft








Preliminary work

1. Move selector lever to position P.
2. Raise the vehicle at the prescribed jacking points.
3. Remove underbody panelling.

Removing sealing ring for parking lock shaft

1. Disengage parking lock cable on the PDK transmission.





Removing parking lock cable

1.1. Press ball head of parking lock cable -1- off the parking lock lever.
1.2. Release parking lock cable -1- at the bracket by pressing the locking lugs -2- together and pull it out.
2. Move cooling water hoses into position.

Take cooling water hoses out of the retaining clips and position them in such a way that the parking lock lever is accessible.

3. Remove parking lock lever.

Unscrew M8 nut, loosen parking lock lever from the parking lock shaft and remove it.

4. Remove sealing ring for parking lock shaft.





Levering out sealing ring

Pierce the sealing ring for the parking lock shaft with a small screwdriver and lever it out.

Installing sealing ring for parking lock shaft

1. Install sealing ring for parking lock shaft.
1.1. Fit sealing ring for parking lock shaft.





Fitting sealing ring for parking lock shaft

Apply a thin coat of Vaseline on the outer circumference and sealing lip of the sealing ring.





Sealing ring for parking lock shaft

1.2. Tap in sealing ring for parking lock shaft -2- using the pressure sleeve T10174 or a long No. 13 wrench -1- until it fits perfectly into the PDK transmission.

2. Install parking lock shaft.

Fit parking lock lever and press it onto the parking lock shaft. Then, screw on and tighten the M8 nut.

- Tightening torque: 16 Nm (12 ftlb.)

3. Secure cooling water hoses in place in the retaining clips.





Engaging parking lock cable

4. Engage parking lock cable on the PDK transmission.
4.1. Check that the gear selector on the selector support is in position "P" and is locked.
4.2. Check that the transmission parking lock is fully engaged.
4.3. Fit the parking lock cable -1- on the bracket, press it in and engage it.
4.4. Press ball head of parking lock cable -1- onto the parking lock lever.

Note: The parking lock cable must only be connected without preload.

Subsequent work

1. Install underbody panelling.
2. Switch through all transmission ranges and check operation.
