Eliminating Noise Symptoms - Reworking Rear Window Cover
General information
Symptoms
Rattling noises from area of rear window cover.
Causes and remedial action
Rattling noises can occur in the rear window cover area while driving due to relative movements.
In the event of a complaint, the buffer adjustment must be checked and the bolts on the trim frame for the rear window must be lubricated with Krytox.

Reworking rear window cover
1. Check buffer adjustment at the rear window cover.
1.1. Check the excess force at the buffer -1- by hand from the inside through the rear window cover -2-. If the buffer is able to move -1-, then the excess force must be corrected by unscrewing the buffer (max. 1 turn).
1.2. Check the decoupling between the rear window cover and the rear window seal all around using a paper strip.
INFORMATION: It must not be possible to pull out the paper strip along the trim frame when the rear window cover is closed. If the paper strip can be pulled out, then the excess force at the buffer must be corrected, adjust the closing aid if necessary. Refer to Removing and installing closing aid.
2. Rework bolt on trim frame on right and left of rear window.
2.1. Screw fastening screw -1- into the bolt -2- by hand -arrow A- and detach the bolt from the trim frame -3- (-arrow B-).
2.2. Lubricate entire bolt -2- with Krytox.
2.3. Press bolt -2- into the trim frame -3- (-arrow A-) and unscrew the fastening screw -1- (-arrow B-).
