Technical Values
Preliminary work
CAUTION: Risk of damage to roof assembly when removed.
- Placing the roof assembly on a level surface can damage the roof assembly frame.
- Only work on the removed roof assembly when the roof assembly is mounted on the assembly fixture. Refer to Mounting roof assembly on assembly fixture
1. Remove roof assembly. Refer to Removing and installing roof assembly.
2. Mount roof assembly on assembly fixture. Refer to Mounting roof assembly on assembly fixture.
3. Remove motor for glass sunroof. Refer to Removing and installing motor for glass sunroof.
4. Remove frame for sunroof cover. Refer to Removing and installing frame for sunroof cover.
5. Remove right fabric lining. Refer to Removing and installing fabric lining.
6. Remove wire harness for sun blind. Refer to Removing and installing wire harness for roof assembly.
Removing holder unit (drive mechanism)
1. Remove water drainage bracket at the rear left and right.
1.1. Unscrew fastening nuts -1- and fastening screws -2- on the water drainage bracket -3- (-arrows-).
INFORMATION: The water drainage bracket will be irreparably damaged during removal and must be replaced.
1.2. Loosen water drainage bracket -3- all the way around with a metal spatula -arrow-.
2. Drill out blind rivets -1- with a 6-mm dia. drill and remove guide duct for the fabric lining -2- in -direction of arrow-.
3. Unscrew fastening screws -1- and pull the metal guide tubes -2- out of the roof assembly in -direction of arrow-.
4. Pull front mount -1- and rear mount -2- on the drive shaft -3- out of the gate guide in -direction of arrow-.
Installing holder unit (drive mechanism)
Preparing mounting unit (drive mechanism) for installation
INFORMATION: To ensure the functioning of the drive mechanism, the replacement parts included in the scope of delivery must always be replaced.
1. Assemble front mount.
INFORMATION: The bigger collar -arrow- on the sliding pad must always face upwards.
1.1. Insert sliding pad -2- into the mounting plate -1-.
1.2. Insert front mount slide -3- into the sliding pad -2-.
INFORMATION: Make sure that the drive shaft runs below the mount slide.
1.3. Insert drive shaft connection -4- into the front mount slide -3- in -direction of arrow-.
2. Assemble rear mount.
INFORMATION: Make sure that the drive shaft runs below the mount slide.
2.1. Insert front drive shaft connection -2A- into the rear mount slide -1- in -direction of arrow-.
INFORMATION: The clamp jaw is a safety component, which blocks the frame for the sliding roof cover when the drive shaft connections are broken.
2.2. Insert rear drive shaft connection -2B- between the clamp jaw -3- in -direction of arrow-.
Installing holder unit (drive mechanism)
INFORMATION:
- During installation, the metal guide tubes must not be kinked or bent.
- The gate guide, cables and front and rear mount slides must not be greased.
1. Fit front holder -1- and rear holder -2- into the gate guide in -direction of arrow-.
2. Install metal guide tubes.
INFORMATION: To make installation easier, slide the metal guide tubes first to the right and then to the left over the drive shafts.
2.1. Slide metal guide tubes -2- over the drive shafts in -direction of arrow-.
2.2. Secure metal guide tubes -2- with the fastening screws -1-. Tightening torque: 5.5 Nm (4.0 ftlb.)
3. Position guide channel for fabric lining -2- on the roof assembly in -direction of arrow- and secure with rivets -1-.
4. Apply Klebt und Dichtet body sealant to the inside of the water drainage bracket at the rear left and right. Maintain the application depth -X and Y-. Application depth: 4 mm; Application depth: 6 mm
5. Position water drainage bracket -3- at the rear left and right on the roof assembly and secure with the fastening nuts -1- and fastening screws -2-. Tightening torque: 3 Nm (2 ftlb.), Tightening torque: 1.4 Nm (1.0 ftlb.)
Subsequent work
1. Install wire harness for sun blind. Refer to Removing and installing wire harness for roof assembly.
2. Install right fabric lining. Refer to Removing and installing fabric lining.
3. Install frame for sunroof cover. Refer to Removing and installing frame for sunroof cover.
4. Connect roof assembly and vehicle using an adapter cable 9758.
5. Adjust holder unit (drive mechanism). Refer to Adjusting holder unit (drive mechanism).
6. Carry out a function test from the vehicle using the adapter cable 9758.
7. Install roof assembly. Refer to Removing and installing roof assembly.
