Removing And Installing Wire Harness For Roof Assembly

Preliminary work

Preliminary work for wire harness for sun blind

CAUTION:
Risk of damage to roof assembly when removed.
- Placing the roof assembly on a level surface can damage the roof assembly frame.


- Only work on the removed roof assembly when the roof assembly is mounted on the assembly fixture.

1. Remove roof assembly.
2. Mount roof assembly on assembly fixture.
3. Remove front left fabric lining.

1. Remove roof assembly.
2. Mount roof assembly on assembly fixture.
3. Remove fabric lining at the left and right.
4. Remove wire harness for sun blind.
5. Remove guide for fabric lining at the left and right.

Removing wire harness for sun blind












1. Release connector for sun blind motor -arrows A- and pull off connector on sun blind motor -arrow B-.







2. Cut tie-wraps -1- on wire harness for sun blind -2-.







3. Detach the rear fabric lining at the drive.
3.1. Cut tie-wrap -1- on water drain hose -2-. Pull water drain hose -2- out of the bracket -arrow A-.
3.2. Pull off retainer -3- using a pointed-nose pliers and detach fabric lining -4- at the bolt on the drive -arrow B-.







4. Pull fabric lining -1- with bottom connection seal backwards out of the guide in -direction of arrow-.







5. Disconnect plug connections on the connector unit.
5.1. Turn connector unit -arrow A- and remove it from the body -arrow B-.
5.2. Release connectors -1 and 2- ( -arrows C- ) and disconnect them -arrow D-.
5.3. Release latches on the connector sockets -1 and 2- ( -arrows E- ) and pull them off the plug connection -3- ( -arrow F- ).







6. Drill out rivets -1- and pull guide duct for fabric lining -2- back -arrow-.







7. Cut tie-wraps -1- used to secure the wire harness for the sun blind -2- on the guide duct for the fabric lining.







8. Press lines out of the connector housing.
8.1. Release latch on connector housing -1- ( -arrow A- ).
8.2. Release lines -2 and 3- using the extraction tool Nr.152 Pos.1 -4- and pull lines -2 and 3- out of the connector housing -1- ( -arrow B- ).







9. Remove tensioning roller.
9.1. Drill out rivets -1- at the top and bottom and pull tensioning roller -2- out of the guide duct for the fabric lining -arrow A-.
9.2. Remove wire harness for sun blind -3- from the deflection roller -4- ( -arrow B- ).







10. Pull wire harness for sun blind -1- out of the guide duct for the fabric lining in -direction of arrow-.

INFORMATION: The wire harness for the sun blind is integrated into the fabric lining and can only be removed or installed together with the fabric lining.







11. Pull fabric lining -1- with top connection seal forward out of the guide in -direction of arrow-.


Removing wire harness for roof assembly












1. Release plug connections for the sunroof motor at the left and right -3- ( -arrow A- ) and disconnect them -arrow-.







2. Release plug connection for closing aid -1- ( -arrows A- ) and disconnect it -arrows B-.







3. Move the slide on the electric connector in -direction of arrow C- and pull connector -3- off the control unit -arrow D-.







4. Pull connectors off the control unit.
4.1. Press the two connectors -4- together -arrow E- and pull them off the control unit -arrow F-.
4.2. Fold locking lever -arrow G- over and pull connector -5- off the control unit -arrow H-.

5. Release and pull off connector on the rear wiper motor.







6. Remove wire harness for roof assembly.
6.1. Cut tie-wrap -2- between wire harness for roof assembly -1- and the line for the left sunroof motor.
6.2. Unclip wire harness for roof assembly -1- at the four clips in -direction of arrow- and remove it.

Installing Wire Harness For Roof Assembly







1. Install wire harness for roof assembly.
1.1. Route wire harness for roof assembly -1- and clip it in at the four clips in -direction of arrow-.
1.2. Use a tie-wrap -2- to secure line for sunroof motor to the wire harness for the roof assembly -1-.

2. Push on connector on rear wiper motor.







3. Push connector onto the control unit.
3.1. Push connector -5- onto the control unit -arrow H- and fold over locking lever -arrow G- until it engages securely.
3.2. Connect the two connectors -4- to the control unit -arrows- until they engage securely.







4. Push connector -3- onto the control unit -arrow D- and close slide in -direction of arrow C-.







5. Push plug connection for closing aid -1- together -arrows A- until it engages securely.







6. Push plug connections for the sunroof motor at the left and right -3- together -arrow- until they engage securely.


Installing wire harness for sun blind

INFORMATION: The wire harness for the sun blind is integrated into the fabric lining and can only be removed or installed together with the fabric lining.







1. Pull fabric lining -1- with top connection seal backwards into the guide in -direction of arrow-.







2. Pull wire harness for sun blind -1- into the guide duct for the fabric lining in -direction of arrow- using a welding rod. The wire harness must be routed in a loop so that it can be hooked onto the tensioning roller later.







3. Install tensioning roller.
3.1. Lay wire harness for sun blind -3- on the deflection roller -4- ( -arrow A- ).
3.2. Slide tensioning roller -2- into the guide duct for the fabric lining -arrow B- and rivet it using new rivets -1-.







4. Press lines into the connector housing.
4.1. Press lines -2 and 3- into the connector housing -1- ( -arrow A- ) until the lines engage securely.
4.2. Lock the latch on the connector housing -1- ( -arrow B- ) until it engages securely.







5. Pull wire harness for rear sun blind -2- approx. 20 cm out of the guide duct for the fabric lining and secure with tie-wraps -1-.







6. Position guide duct for fabric lining -2- on the roof assembly -arrow- and secure with new rivets -1-.







7. Connect plug connections on the connector unit.
7.1. Slide connector sockets -1 and 2- onto the plug connection -3- ( -arrow A- ) until the latches engage securely.
7.2. Plug in connectors -1 and 2- ( -arrow B- ) until they engage securely. Attach connector unit to the body -arrow C- and turn it -arrow D-.







8. Pull fabric lining -1- with bottom connection seal forward into the guide in -direction of arrow-.







9. Attach the rear fabric lining at the drive.
9.1. Attach the fabric lining -4- at the bolt on the drive -arrow A-.
9.2. Push the retainer -3- into the groove of the bolt on the drive using a pointed-nose pliers.
9.3. Engage water drain hose -2- in the bracket -arrow B- and secure with a tie-wrap -1-.







10. Secure wire harness -2- with tie-wraps -1-.







11. Connect electric plug connection for sunroof motor -arrow A-. The locking lugs must engage on both sides when the connection is made.

Subsequent work

Subsequent work for wire harness for roof assembly
1. Install guide for fabric lining at the left and right.
2. Install wire harness for sun blind.
3. Install fabric lining at the left and right.
4. Connect roof assembly and vehicle using an adapter cable 9758 and carry out a function test from the vehicle.
5. Install roof assembly.

Subsequent work for wire harness for sunblind
1. Install front left fabric lining.
2. Connect roof assembly and vehicle using an adapter cable 9758 and carry out a function test from the vehicle.
3. Install roof assembly.
