Removing And Installing Suction Fan For Seat Surface

Preliminary work

1. Disconnect the battery. Refer to Work instructions after disconnecting the battery.
2. Remove the front seat. Refer to Removing and installing front seat.
3. Mount the front seat on the assembly fixture. Refer to Mounting front seat on assembly fixture.

INFORMATION: Driver's side only:

4. Remove control unit for memory seat adjustment. Refer to Removing and installing control unit for memory seat adjustment.

INFORMATION: Only for vehicles with weight sensing AWS (USA) on the passenger's seat.

5. Remove control unit for AWS. Refer to Removing and installing AWS control unit.

Removing suction fan for seat surface

Removing suction fan for seat surface (driver's side)

1. Release connector socket -arrows a- and pull it out of the holder -arrow-.

2. Unscrew fastening screws -1 and 2-.

3. Remove holder for suction fan for seat surface -arrow- and swivel suction fan for seat surface forward until you can reach the plug connection.
4. Release plug connection -arrow A- and disconnect it -arrows B-.

5. Turn suction fan for seat surface clockwise -arrow A- until the suction fan for the seat surface is released. Counter at the air duct while doing this.

6. Remove suction fan for seat surface -arrow B-.

Removing suction fan for seat surface (passenger's side)

1. Release connector socket -arrows a- and pull it out of the holder -arrow-.

2. Unscrew fastening screws -1 and 2-.

5. Turn suction fan for seat surface clockwise -arrow A- until the suction fan for the seat surface is released. Counter at the air duct while doing this.

6. Remove suction fan for seat surface -arrow B-.

Installing suction fan for seat surface

Installing suction fan for seat surface (driver's side)

1. Check rubber mounting -1- on holder for suction fan for seat surface for damage and replace it if necessary.

INFORMATION: Ensure that the suction fan is installed at the correct position.

2. Insert suction fan for seat surface into the air duct -arrow A-, press it in and turn anti-clockwise -arrow B- until the suction fan for the seat surface is fully locked in the air duct.

3. Push the plug connection together until it engages securely -arrows-.

INFORMATION:
- Only for vehicles with memory seat adjustment.
- Ensure that lines are routed correctly.
- The wire harness from the seat adjustment switch to the memory control unit (black connector) must be routed between the suction fan for the seat surface and the suction fan holder arrow.

4. Move suction fan for seat surface together with the suction fan holder into installation position -arrow-.

5. Tighten fastening screws -1 and 2-.
6. Slide connector socket onto the holder -arrow- until it clicks into place.

Installing suction fan for seat surface (passenger's side)

1. Check rubber mounting -1- on holder for suction fan for seat surface for damage and replace it if necessary.

3. Push plug connections together until they engages securely -arrows-.

INFORMATION:
- Ensure that lines are routed correctly.
- The wire harness must be routed between the suction fan for the seat surface and the suction fan holder arrow.

4. Move suction fan for seat surface together with the suction fan holder into installation position -arrow-.

5. Tighten fastening screws -1 and 2-.
6. Slide connector socket onto the holder -arrow- until it clicks into place.

Subsequent work

INFORMATION: Only for vehicles with weight sensing AWS (USA) on the passenger's seat.

1. Install control unit for AWS. Refer to Removing and installing AWS control unit.

INFORMATION: Driver's side only:

2. Install control unit for memory seat adjustment. Refer to Removing and installing control unit for memory seat adjustment.
3. Install the front seat. Refer to Removing and installing front seat.
4. Connect the battery. Refer to Work instructions after disconnecting the battery.
5. Perform function test on suction fan.
