Preliminary Work

1. Remove pressure pipe.
2. Remove air cleaner housing.
3. Remove rear apron.

Danger:
Parts of the exhaust system become extremely hot!
^ Danger of burns
^ Permanent scarring of the skin


- Do not begin work until the exhaust system has cooled down completely.

- If it is imperative that you work on the hot exhaust system, ensure that you wear fire-resistant and heat resistant protective gear.

4. Remove rear silencer.

Danger:
Risk of engine failing down.
^ Danger of fatal injury, material damage.


- Support the engine with the prescribed tool.

5. Remove engine carrier.

Danger:
Hot pressurized coolant.
^ Danger of scalding and burning.


- Only work on the coolant system when the engine is "cool".

- Wear protective clothes, gloves and goggles.

6. Drain coolant.

Warning
Coolant is corrosive and hazardous to health.
^ Risk of skin and eye irritation.


- Wear protective gloves and goggles.

- If you come into contact with coolant, wash off immediately with plenty of warm water.

1. Relieve and remove drive belt (only when engine is cold). Mark running direction.

2. Remove coolant pump.
2.1. Loosen screw-type clamp and pull off cooling water hose -4-.

2.2. Unscrew screws -2- and remove drive belt guard -3-.

2.3. Remove coolant pump -1- from the distributor housing -4-.
3. Remove and dispose of seal.
3.1. Clean sealing faces on coolant pump and distributor housing with solvent naphtha or acetone. Remove any residual sealant with an emery cloth and then clean all grease off the components.

1. Replace seal for coolant pump -3-.
2. Install coolant pump.

2.1. Fit coolant pump -1-with a new seal into the distributor housing.
2.2. Position drive belt guard -3- and screw in and tighten screws -2-.

- Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)

2.3. Fit coolant hose.

Connect coolant hose -4- and secure with a screw-type clamp.

3. Fit and tension the drive belt. Observe running direction.

Subsequent Work

Danger:
Risk of engine failing down.
^ Danger of fatal injury, material damage.


- Support the engine with the prescribed tool.

1. Install engine carrier.
2. Install rear silencer.
3. Install rear apron.
4. Install air cleaner housing.
5. Install pressure pipe.
6. Fill in coolant and bleed the system.
