Removing and installing front halfshaft flange

Preliminary work

Danger
Vehicle raised incorrectly.
^ Danger of fatal injury or material damage should the vehicle fall down.


-> Raise the vehicle at the prescribed jacking points.

1. Jack and raise the vehicle at the prescribed jacking points.
2. Remove front underbody panelling.
3. Remove front drive shaft.
4. Place oil collection pan under the transmission.

1. Lever off halfshaft flange with a mounting lever.

Replacing circlip

1. Install halfshaft flange.
1.1. Replace circlip -A- for the halfshaft flange. To do this, clamp the flange in the vice with a hexagon-head bolt -B- and press the circlip out with the new circlip -A-.
1.2. Grease circlip -A- for easier fitting.





Tapping in halfshaft flange

1.3. Tap halfshaft flange -arrow- into the transmission using a rubber hammer.

Subsequent work

1. Install front drive shaft.
2. Check oil for front final drive and top up if necessary.
3. Install front underbody panelling.
4. Lower the vehicle.
