Removing And Installing Hinge For Hood Compartment Lid

Technical values







Preliminary work

1. Remove hood compartment lid. Refer to Removing and installing hood compartment lid.
2. Remove additional flap. Refer to Removing and installing additional flap.
3. Loosen drive for hood compartment lid on the left and right and set aside. Refer to Removing and installing transmission for hood compartment lid drive.
4. Remove hood. Refer to Removing and installing hood.

Removing hinge for hood compartment lid







INFORMATION: The seal is damaged when removing the hinge.

1. Detach rubber sleeve -1- on the water drip pan -2- (-arrow-).







2. Unscrew fastening nuts -1- and fastening screw -2-.







3. Detach hinge for hood compartment lid -3- from the body or loosen seal -4- using a spatula -arrow-.

Installing hinge for hood compartment lid

1. Use a spatula -1- to remove the seal -2- on the body and hinge -3- and clean with cleaning agent.







INFORMATION: The seal must not be affixed over the contact surface of the hinge -A- and body.

2. Position new seal -1- on the hinge -2- and affix.







3. Detach backing protective film from the seal -4- and position hinge -3- on the body -arrow-.







4. Slightly tighten fastening nuts -1- and fastening screw -2-.
5. Insert 5-mm centring pin (shop-made tool) -1- for centring the hinge into the bore provided with the hinge -2- in the closed position.







6. Position hood compartment lid -1- at the hinges -3- on the right and left with the help of a second person and secure with the fastening nuts -2-.







7. Move the hinge and hood compartment lid to check the contours with respect to the side panels and rear lid, adjust them if necessary. Refer to Diagram - body gap dimensions
8. Tighten fastening nuts -1- and fastening screw -2- at the hinge. Tightening torque: 9.7 Nm (7 ftlb.)
9. Screw down fastening nuts -2- on hood compartment lid -1-. Tightening torque: 9.7 Nm (7 ftlb.)
10. Press rubber sleeve -1- into the water drip pan -2- (-arrow-).







11. Remove centring pin -1- and move hood compartment lid into service position by hand.

Subsequent work

1. Install hood. Refer to Removing and installing hood.
2. Fasten drive for hood compartment lid on the right and left. Refer to Removing and installing transmission for hood compartment lid drive.
3. Install additional flap. Refer to Removing and installing additional flap.
