Preliminary work

CAUTION:
Hot components
- Risk of burns


- Let hot components cool down.
- Wear personal protective gear.

1. Remove rear wheel.
Socket-wrench insert P300 should be used to avoid damaging the rims.

2. Remove rear silencer.

Removal

Removing heat shield - upper part only
1. Remove upper part of heat shield on side 1-3 -1-.
1.1. Unclip blue oxygen sensor cable.







1.2. Unscrew two outer Torx screws (M6 x 12) -2-.







1.3. Pull upper part of heat shield out diagonally in direction travel.

2. Remove upper part of heat shield on side 4-6 -1-.







2.1. Unclip blue oxygen sensor cable -3- and loosen ground strap on the cylinder head. To do this, unscrew one M8 Torx screw -2-.







2.2. Unclip oxygen sensor cable -2- and unplug ignition coil plug for cylinder 6 -1-.







2.3. Unscrew two outer Torx screws (M6 x 12). Slide heat shield -1- downwards.







2.4. Disconnect ignition coil plug for cylinder 5 and pull out upper part of heat shield in direction of travel.

1. Remove lower part of heat shield on side 1-3.
1.1. Remove exhaust manifold 1-3.
1.2. Remove holder for rear silencer 1-3. To do so, unscrew four M8 Torx screws and remove the holder.
Two M8 x 12 screws at the top and two M8 x 25 screws at the bottom.

1.3. Remove upper part of heat shield by unscrewing two outer Torx screws (M6 x 12) and taking out the heat shield.
1.4. Unscrew four outer Torx screws (M6 x 12) and remove lower part of heat shield.

2. Remove lower part of heat shield on side 4-6.
2.1. Remove exhaust manifold 4-6.
2.2. Remove holder for rear silencer 4-6. To do so, unscrew four M8 Torx screws and remove the holder.
Two M8 x 12 screws at the top and two M8 x 25 screws at the bottom.

2.3. Remove upper part of heat shield by unscrewing two outer Torx screws (M6 x 12) and taking out the heat shield.
2.4. Unscrew four outer Torx screws (M6 x 12) and remove lower part of heat shield.

Installation

Installing heat shield - lower part

1. Install lower part of heat shield.
1.1. Secure lower part of heat shield with four outer Torx screws (M6 x 12) and tighten screws to the specified tightening torque.
1.2. Connect ignition coil plug for cylinders 5 and 6.
1.3. Secure upper part of heat shield with two outer Torx screws (M6 x 12) and tighten screws to the specified torque.

2. Fit holder for rear silencer.
2.1. Fit top holder using two Torx screws (M8 x 12).
2.2. Fit bottom holder using two Torx screws (M8 x 25).
2.3. Tighten the screws.
Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)

3. Install exhaust manifold.

Installing heat shield - upper part only
1. Install upper part of heat shield on side 1-3.







1.1. Slide heat shield in past the rear silencer holder.







1.2. Position upper part of heat shield -1-, fit two outer Torx screws (M6 x 12) -2- and tighten to the specified torque.
1.3. Clip in blue oxygen sensor cable.

2. Install upper part of heat shield on side 4-6.







2.1. Slide upper part of heat shield -1- past the rear silencer holder and fit loosely.
2.2. Connect ignition coil plug for cylinders 5 and 6.







2.3. Position upper part of heat shield -1-, secure with two outer Torx screws (M6 x 12) -4- and tighten screws to the specified torque.
Fit ground strap on cylinder head using an M8 Torx screw -2- and tighten it. Clip in blue oxygen sensor cable -3-.
Tightening torque: 23 Nm (17 ftlb.)







2.4. Clip in oxygen sensor cable -2-.

Subsequent work
1. Install rear silencer.
2. Mount rear wheel.
Socket-wrench insert P300 should be used to avoid damaging the rims.
