Preliminary work for removing and installing steering column switch
1. Observe the airbag safety regulations.
2. Remove driver's airbag unit.
3. Remove steering wheel.
4. Remove steering column trim.
Removing steering-column switch
CAUTION:
Risk of short circuit.
- Before removing steering column switch, remove ignition key.
WARNING:
Risk of damage to airbag contact unit.
- When removing and installing steering column switch, the steering wheel must be pulled off in the straight-ahead position. This ensures that the airbag contact unit is locked in the central position.
- If the setting has inadvertently changed (locking element released, airbag contact unit out of adjustment), the airbag contact unit must be adjusted.
1. Press locking element for the electrical plug and pull off the plug.
2. Loosen fastening screw and pull steering column switch downwards from the steering column.
Installing steering-column switch
1. Slide steering column switch as far as it will go on to the steering column and secure with fastening screw. - Tightening torque: 4.5 ftlb.
2. Push on plug of steering column switch until it is felt to engage.
Subsequent work
Subsequent work for removing and installing steering column switch
1. Install steering column trim.
2. Install steering wheel.
3. Install driver's airbag unit.
