Installing wire harness for airbag
WARNING:
Incorrect handling of airbag units.
- Danger of injury and material damage.
- Always observe the safety regulations for handling airbag units.
- Remove ignition key. Disconnect battery. Route or isolate ground strap so that all contact with a ground carrier (e.g. body, seat frame) is avoided.
- Before the connector is disconnected from the triggering unit, always wait for 1 minute before disconnecting the battery. The airbag triggering unit must not be removed with the plug plugged in.
1. Disconnect the connectors of the damaged airbag line on the affected components. The illustration shows the connector on the acceleration sensor under the seat as an example.
2. Insert the latch -2- on the connector -1- (-arrow A-) until it engages securely.
3. Release locking mechanism on the latch -2- (-arrow B-) and pull off connector -1- (-arrow C-).
4. Cut off the connector of the damaged airbag line, isolate it and tie it to the wire harness.
Remove contact on the connector for airbag triggering unit
5. Fold up storage box -A-.
6. Unscrew fastening screws and remove cover -arrow B-.
7. Lift rear centre console trim panel (unclip 4x), disconnect connector and remove.
8. Fold up centre console trim panel to the front.
9. Push in plug lock -1-, fold over lever -2- (-arrow C-) and pull off connector -arrow D-.
10. Remove tie-wrap -arrow- at connector.
11. Release contact strips on both sides of the connector housing -1- (-arrows a-) and pull the contact strips -2 and 3- out of the connector housing -1-.
12. Remove binding band on wire harness and push contact strip -2- down off the contact strip -3-.
INFORMATION: Use the airbag wiring diagram for assigning the airbag lines.
13. Release contact of the damaged airbag line using the press-out tool 1575-1P from the press-out tools set for Cayenne NR.155-3 (-arrow a-) and pull out of the contact strip.
Install new airbag line
14. Connect connector for the new airbag line to the affected components until the connector engages securely. The illustration shows the connector on the acceleration sensor under the seat as an example.
15. Route the new airbag line along the main wire harness, guide it through the existing cable ducts and tie it to the main wire harness using tie-wraps.
16. Plug new airbag line into the contact strip until the contact engages securely.
17. Push contact strip -2- onto the contact strip -3-. Attach new binding band onto wire harness.
18. Insert the contact strips -2 and 3- into the connector housing until they engage securely.
19. Affix new tie-wrap -arrow-.
20. Connect connector -arrow D- and lock -arrow C- until the connector lock engages securely.
21. Press in the connector until it is felt to engage.
22. Insert centre console trim panel and clip in.
23. Insert cover and screw down with the fastening screws -arrow B-.
24. Fold down storage box.
25. Read out fault memory and erase it if necessary.
