Removing and installing front brake calliper

Preliminary work

1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove the wheel.

Removing 18-inch plus brake calliper (Turbo as of model year 2008)





18-inch plus brake calliper

Information
To gain better access for removal of the brake calliper, turn the steering fully either to the right or left.

1. Carefully press the brake pads back using water pump pliers.
2. Press the brake hose out of the fastening clamps on the wheel carrier and loosen it from the brake calliper. Collect the brake fluid in a suitable container. Close off the line with suitable stoppers.
3. Unclip the brake pad wear indicator wire.

Information
Do not detach the brake calliper from the adapter.
Never use an impact bolter to loosen and tighten the brake calliper on the wheel carrier.

Installing front brake calliper

Information
Replace screws and lock nuts.
Never use an impact bolter to loosen and tighten the brake calliper on the wheel carrier.
Observe correct tightening torques.

The brake calliper is installed in reverse order.

1. Fit the brake calliper.
2. Fit the brake line to the brake calliper.
3. Clip in the wear indicator connector.
4. Position disc brake pads by operating the brake several times.

Subsequent work

1. Bleed the brake system.
2. Mount the wheel.
