Headlamp Bulb: Service and Repair



Removing And Installing Halogen Bulb

Preliminary work
1. Remove main headlight.

Removing dipped beam halogen bulb
1. Remove cover.
1.1. Release cover -1- at the two clips -arrows A-.







1.2. Swivel the cover -1- out of the guides on the main headlight and remove it -arrows B-.







2. Turn bulb holder for dipped beam headlight -1- anti-clockwise -arrow A- and take it out of the main headlight -arrow B-.







3. Pull dipped beam bulb -1- out of the bulb holder for the dipped beam headlight -2- ( -arrow- ).

Removing auxiliary high beam halogen bulb
1. Remove cover.
1.1. Release cover -1- at the two clips -arrows A-.







1.2. Swivel the cover -1- out of the guides on the main headlight and remove it -arrows B-.







2. Turn bulb holder for auxiliary high beam headlight -1- anti-clockwise -arrow A- and take it out of the main headlight -arrow B-.







3. Pull auxiliary high beam bulb -1- out of the bulb holder for the auxiliary high beam headlight -2- ( -arrow- ).

Removing cornering light halogen bulb
1. Remove cover.
1.1. Release cover -1- at the two clips -arrows A-.







1.2. Swivel the cover -1- out of the guides on the main headlight and remove it -arrows B-.







2. Release connector -1- ( -arrows A- ) and pull it off the cornering light bulb -2- ( -arrow B- ).







3. Turn cornering light bulb -1- anti-clockwise -arrow A- and take it out of the main headlight -arrow B-.

Installing dipped beam halogen bulb

CAUTION:
Danger of injury. Danger of material damage if bulbs are used or handled incorrectly.
- When installed, the headlight has a high voltage.
- Only bulbs specified in the bulb table may be used.
- Bulbs with a higher wattage may damage the bulb housing.
- To prevent short circuits, the load in question must be switched off when changing bulbs.
- New bulbs must be clean and free of grease. Therefore, never touch bulbs with your bare hands. To change the bulbs, use a cloth or soft paper.
- Observe the safety instructions when replacing a bulb in a Bi-Xenon headlight.
- In certain states, it is compulsory to carry spare light bulbs.








1. Insert dipped beam bulb -1- into the bulb holder for the dipped beam headlight -2- ( -arrow- ).







2. Insert bulb holder for dipped beam headlight -1- into the main headlight -arrow A- and turn it clockwise -arrow B-.
3. Fit cover.
3.1. Fit cover -1- down into the guides on the main headlight and swivel it up -arrows A-.







3.2. Press cover -1- onto the main headlight until the two clips engage securely -arrows B-.

2. Insert bulb holder for auxiliary high beam headlight -1- into the main headlight -arrow A- and turn it clockwise -arrow B-.
3. Fit cover.
3.1. Fit cover -1- down into the guides on the main headlight and swivel it up -arrows A-.







3.2. Press cover -1- onto the main headlight until the two clips engage securely -arrows B-.

1. Insert cornering light bulb -1- into the main headlight -arrow A- and turn it clockwise -arrow B-.







2. Plug in connector -1- on cornering light bulb -2- ( -arrow- ) until the connector -1- engages securely.
3. Fit cover.
3.1. Fit cover -1- down into the guides on the main headlight and swivel it up -arrows A-.







3.2. Press cover -1- onto the main headlight until the two clips engage securely -arrows B-.

Subsequent work
1. Install main headlight and carry out a function test.
