Cause
Defective automated coding process in vehicle production.
Remedial action
In the event of a complaint, re-code the PCM 3.0 fuel consumption display.
Tools and materials
Battery charger (current rating of at least 40 A)
PIWIS Tester 9718 with test software version 22.000/10/2008 (or higher)
Coding PCM 3.0 fuel consumption display
1. Connect the PIWIS Tester (with test software version 22.000 or higher) to the vehicle and switch it on.
2. Switch on the ignition using the original vehicle key.
3. Go to the PIWIS Tester Start menu and select - "Diagnosis".
4. Select vehicle type Cayenne.
5. Select - "PCM" in the "Control units" menu and confirm by pressing >>.
6. Select - "PCM3" in the "Function selection" menu and confirm by pressing >>.
7. Select - "Coding" in the "PCM3" menu and confirm by pressing >>.
8. Select - "Other" in the "PCM3/Coding" menu and confirm by pressing >>.
9. Select - "Consumption display" in the "PCM3/Other" menu and confirm by pressing >>.
10. Select - the relevant vehicle type in the "Cayenne/PCM3/Change coding" menu (for Cayenne GTS - select Cayenne S) and press F8 to start coding.
11. Wait 5 seconds and then press << to return to the main menu.
12. Switch off ignition.
13. Switch off the PIWIS Tester and disconnect it from the vehicle.
14. On vehicles with Porsche "Entry & Drive" , replace the original vehicle key in the ignition lock with the control panel again.
