Preliminary work for ATF cooler
1. Remove engine guard. -> 108019 Removing and installing engine guard - section on "Removing" 108019 Removing and installing engine guard (underbody panelling)
2. Remove front apron. -> 631519 Removing and installing front apron - section on "Removing"
3. Loosen lock carrier. -> 503809 Loosening and fastening lock carrier (service position) - section on "Loosening" 503809 Loosening and Securing Lock Carrier (Service Position)
Removing ATF cooler
1. Place oil collection pan under the ATF thermostat.

-> Let the fluid cool down.

2. Unscrew ATF line at the thermostat -arrow- and drain ATF.

3. Remove fastening clamps -1, 2- on the rubber mountings for the coolant radiator and press it to the rear.

4. Remove rubber moulding on the coolant radiator.

5. Threaded connection for lines up to 2009
Information
Conversion of ATF cooler with modified ATF line connection. -> 386000 Tiptronic transmission: ATF cooler connection modified (76/09)
Loosen ATF lines at the connection points -arrows- in front of the ATF cooler. Counter at the lock nuts.

6. Threaded connection for lines from end of 2009 onwards
Loosen ATF lines at the ATF cooler. Unscrew two fastening screws -1- on the lines for this purpose.

7. Remove tab washers -arrow- -arrow- on the ATF cooler supports and remove ATF cooler.

Installing ATF cooler
1. Position ATF cooler on the supports at the coolant radiator and fit the tab washers.

2. Replace sealing rings on the ATF lines.

Information
Conversion of ATF cooler with modified ATF line connection. -> 386000 Tiptronic transmission: ATF cooler connection modified (76/09)
Fit ATF lines at the connection points in front of the ATF cooler. The left line must be screwed on first, then the right. Counter at the end of the line => Countering at ATF line for the ATF cooler while doing this. => Tightening torque: 30 Nm (22 ftlb.)

4. Threaded connection for lines from end of 2009 onwards
Fit and secure ATF lines at the ATF cooler. Unscrew two fastening screws -1- and retaining brackets -2- on the lines for this purpose. => Tightening torque: 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)+2 Nm (+1.5 ftlb.)

5. Fit rubber moulding on the coolant radiator.

6. Press rubber mounting for coolant radiator into the brackets and fit the fastening clamps -1, 2-.

7. Unscrew oil inspection plug -2- and fill in ATF until a constant discharge is visible at the lifting tube.

8. Screw in oil inspection plug -2-. => Tightening torque: 70 Nm (52 ftlb.)

Subsequent work
Subsequent work for ATF cooler
1. Fasten lock carrier. -> 503809 Loosening and fastening lock carrier (service position) - section on "Fastening" 503809 Loosening and Securing Lock Carrier (Service Position)
2. Install front apron. -> 631519 Removing and installing front apron - section on "Installing"
3. Check and if necessary, top up the ATF. -> 370235 Checking and topping up ATF 370235 Checking and topping up ATF
4. Fit engine guard. -> 108019 Removing and installing engine guard - section on "Installing" 108019 Removing and installing engine guard (underbody panelling)
