Removing and installing sealing ring for short halfshaft flange





Preliminary work

Danger
Vehicle raised incorrectly
Danger of fatal injury and material damage should the vehicle fall down

- Jack the vehicle at the prescribed jacking points.

1. Jack and raise the vehicle at the prescribed jacking points.
2. Remove right rear wheel.
3. Remove short drive shaft flange.

Tapping out sealing ring

1. Remove sealing ring for short drive shaft flange.
Pull sealing ring out of the Porsche-Doppelkupplung using a slide hammer kit Nr.168.

Installing sealing ring for short halfshaft flange

1. Install sealing ring for short drive shaft flange.





Installing sealing ring for drive shaft flange

Apply a thin coat of Vaseline on the sealing lip and outer circumference of the sealing ring and use pressure piece 9790 -2- to tap the sealing ring in until it is flush with the transmission housing -1-.

Information
The sealing ring must fit in the transmission housing at the same depth all round.

Subsequent work

1. Install short drive shaft flange.
2. Install right rear wheel.
3. Check transmission oil level in the final drive and top up if necessary.
