Diagnosis information - DME (DFI)

Oxygen sensors behind catalytic converter interchanged

NOTE: Do not use contact spray on the oxygen sensor's plug connections as this will result in irreparable damage to the lines (blockage of reference air duct).

NOTE: Do not interchange the oxygen sensor ahead of catalytic converter with the sensor behind the catalytic converter as this will result in implausible fault entries.

NOTE:
During diagnostic procedures, the mixture on one bank is enriched, while the mixture on the other bank is weakened.
If the oxygen sensor behind the catalytic converter on the enriched bank indicates weakening and the oxygen sensor behind the catalytic converter on the weakened bank indicates enrichment, then this fault is entered.

Diagnostic conditions
- Perform short test [Oxygen sensor active test]

or (if no short test is possible):
- Relatively long drive in various operating states
- Diagnoses [Electrical fault of oxygen sensor behind catalytic converter] or [Lambda correction behind catalytic converter] must have taken place.

Possible fault causes
- Oxygen sensors behind catalytic converter interchanged (i.e. sensor of bank 1 is in exhaust branch of bank 2 and vice versa).
