Diagnosis information - DME (DFI)

Coolant temperature implausibly high

Diagnostic conditions
- Drive with high and low cooling power
- Coolant temperature when engine starts more than 35 °C (95 °F)
- Ambient air temperature more than -10 °C (14 °F)
- Engine running more than 5 minutes
- Drive with high and low cooling power
- Hold speed above 45 km/h (25 mph) and engine speed above 1,300 rpm
- then overrun phase
- then vehicle standstill and idle speed (less than 700 rpm) for more than 35 seconds
- No detection of fault code P0116, P0117, P0118, P0119 or P3081, P3082

Possible fault causes
- Coolant temperature sensor faulty
- Fixed resistor fitted instead of coolant temperature sensor
