Diagnosis information - DME (DFI)

Oil temperature sensor

NOTE:
The fault is detected when:
- the measured oil temperature is below -39 °C (-38 °F) with ignition on or engine running and coolant temperature more than -15 °C (5 °F) (P0197),
or
- the measured oil temperature is below -39 °C (-38 °F) with engine running more than 300 s (P0197),
or
- the measured oil temperature is above 159 °C (318 °F) with ignition on or engine running and coolant temperature less than 110 °C (230 °F) (P0198),

Diagnostic conditions
- Vehicle voltage more than 9 V
- Coolant temperature more than -15 °C (5 °F)
- Oil temperature -39 °C ... +159 °C (-38 °F ... 318 °F)
- Time after engine starts more than 5 minutes

Possible fault causes
- Loose contact or corrosion on connectors or lines
- Short circuit to B+/ground/between lines or open circuit in the lines
- Oil temperature sensor faulty
