Lower clutch switch (interlock)

NOTE:
- The fault is detected if the following conditions are met 5 x throughout the vehicle life:
- The ignition key is operated in the ignition lock in position 2 (start engine) for longer than 2 seconds;
and at the same time
- the upper clutch switch for cruise control is detected as actuated;
and at the same time
- the lower clutch switch (interlock) is detected as not actuated

- The message [Depress clutch pedal] appears on the instrument cluster after approx. 1.5 seconds each time the ignition key is operated under the above conditions.

Diagnostic conditions
- Engine start with fully depressed clutch pedal

Possible fault causes
- Clutch pedal only partly depressed during starting
(e.g. thick floor mat below the pedal)
- Clutch pedal is pressed only during the starting operation
- Short circuit to B+ or open circuit in signal line
- Holder for lower clutch switch (interlock) bent or loose
- Lower clutch switch (interlock) loose or faulty
