General information and repair areas

Information

This repair method is a cost-effective repair that may have quality implications. To achieve the best repair result, always use the tool recommended by Porsche and attend the special training courses put on by the tool/system suppliers.

Paint repairs (also known as spot coating) can be used for small areas of paint damage. In this case, the damage is repaired over a small area by touching up the base and clear lacquer. The transition point from the old to the new clear lacquer is polished to achieve a match.

Please note: When polishing there is a danger of creating trailing edges at the transition point.

Areas of application:
- Paint repairs are possible on plastic and sheet metal.
- Single-layer, double-layer and metallic paint finishes can be painted in this way.

- This painting method can be used to its full extent in areas with low light reflection (e.g. bumpers, door sills, edges of parts). -green area-
- Paint repairs to components with larger surfaces are only possible to some extent -yellow area-. In these areas, only small areas of damage with a diameter of up to 35 mm or a length of up to 100 mm should be repaired.
- Damage to large surface areas cannot be rectified using paint repair methods. -red area-
