Preliminary work
Information
- Measure the oil level before removing any parts and draw a diagram of the oil level on the oil dipstick as a reference.
1. Remove left engine compartment cover. => 700219 Removing and installing front trim (engine compartment) - section on "Removing"

1. Press the two coolant hoses aside and remove the screw on the oil dipstick. Pull out oil dipstick. -1-

2. Push cable plug of the crankshaft pulse sender towards the cylinder block -arrow- and remove from the guide tube.

3. Carefully pull the guide tube out of the cylinder block. Carefully turn back and forth if necessary. Check that the sealing ring on the guide tube moves with it -arrow- or pull the sealing ring out of the bore using an angled piece of wire.

Information
- The sealing ring on the guide must be replaced.
1. Replace sealing ring, apply a little grease to the ring and push it as far as it will go onto the guide tube -arrow-. Remove the oil dipstick from the guide tube for the assembly work.

2. Fit cable plug of crankshaft pulse sender -arrow- to the guide tube.

Information
- Illuminate the installation position well for fitting the guide.
3. Insert guide tube into the bore in the cylinder block. Align guide tube and fit fastening screw at the intake-air distributor. Tighten fastening screw. => Coolant hoses => Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)

4. Move the two coolant hoses into installation position. Insert oil dipstick. => Coolant hoses
Subsequent work
1. Check oil level using the oil dipstick and compare with the diagram you drew (serves as a reference for checking that the guide tube was fitted correctly).
2. Fit left engine compartment cover. => 700219 Removing and installing front trim (engine compartment) - section on "Installing"
