Preliminary work

1. Remove lower side cover of rear apron.
1.1. Unscrew fastening screws -1- and remove cover -2- ( -arrow- ).

Exclusive and Sport tailpipes





1. Loosen screw on ball clamp -1-. Open up ball clamp and slide it aside.

2. Loosen tailpipe and remove it towards the rear through the rear apron.
3. Clean extension positions and replace ball clamp.
4. Move tailpipes into installation position and align them. To do this, tighten ball clamp slightly, check the gap dimensions, align the tailpipes and then tighten the ball clamp. => 263419 Removing and installing tailpipes on DFI engines - section on "Adjusting"=> Tightening torque: 35 Nm (26 ftlb.)+/-3.5 Nm (+/-2.5 ftlb.)

Adjusting and aligning tailpipes

NOTICE

Tailpipe not fitted correctly

- Components can heat up

-> Observe exact gap dimensions.
-> After the test drive, check the gap dimensions again and re-adjust if necessary.

Information

If the gap dimensions of the tailpipes with respect to the rear apron are different due to design changes, the tailpipes must be adjusted to a uniform distance from the rear apron.

Subsequent work

1. Install lower side cover of rear apron.





Installing cover

1.1. Place cover -2- on the rear apron -arrow- and align it.
1.2. Tighten fastening screws -1-. => Tightening torque: 4.5 Nm (3.5 ftlb.)+/-0.5 Nm (+/-0.5 ftlb.)
