V6 Engine: Drive Belt Tensioner Defective (19/09)

Concerns:
Drive belt tensioner

Information:

- Vehicle is hard to steer (no power steering).
- Red warning in instrument cluster: "BatteryIGenerator warning".
- Red warning in instrument cluster: "Engine temperature too high".

The belt tensioner can be defective due to vibrations, which can cause the spring in the belt tensioner to break.

As of September 11 and October 9, 2009, modified versions of the following parts are installed:

- Belt tensioner with profiled tensioning roller (previously smooth).
- Smooth (coolant pump) pulley (previously profiled).
- Smooth deflection roller (previously profiled).

Date of Introduction:

September 11 (Tiptronic) and October 9, 2009 (manual transmission), as of VINS:

WP1AA2 9P7ALA 03201 (Tiptronic)
WP1AA2 AP8ALA 04823 (manual transmission)

Action Required:

In the event of a complaint, install the modified parts, see Removing and installing belt tensioner on DFI engines and Removing and installing coolant pump on DFI engines.
